Hello,
Just wanted to quickly see how many of you buy one-trick instant downloads or one trick DVD's. By this I mean a trick or ebook or downloadable video that contains the explanation for only one effect? What is the price you are willing to pay for a One Trick release? Are you willing to pay more if there are bonus variations on the One Trick release? Does adding two "bonus" tricks affect your purchasing decision at all? I ask this question because maybe I have been looking at the wrong demographics, and need to reconsider how I market some of my own work. I know my answers to the above questions, and most of you by now probably know my own answers as well. If somebody could explain to me the fascination they have with One-Trick releases I would be very grateful. Sincerely, Dale A. Hildebrandt |

All depends on what's being released.

I'd buy a one "application" release, more like a treatise...
but I think the only one trick dvd I bought was mindbender...which I admit I bought when I was drunk and online late one night...
I've asked to be banned

I think it's simply that you only pay for something that you think you'll actually like/use.
If a book is marketed with 5 effects, but from the reading of the contents, I don't like the sound of 2 of them, a 3rd I already have my own method (which might be the same) - that leaves you with a product that you're only getting 2/5ths use of. With a single product you get 100% use. I also think there is a tendency for people to lump together garbage with gold. One good effect in with a few rehashed or just overly 'proppy' effects. |

I agree too much garbage with gold going on. I would pay $5.00 for a single trick if I realy wanted it. If not I would like the option to pay like $20.00 for all the tricks, but I must say I am quick to buy a trick for $5.00 that I realy like.
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

$5 is not much for a decent trick. I'd like to think that no-one with decent material would sell for that little.
In my opinion, the best products are those that deal with a very specific area of mentalism. Just a single methodolgy (not a single effect.) I believe it's much more useful to take a single methodolgy and apply it to different presentations. Together with subtleties for those presentations. Then considering minor changes to the methodology. |

I would have to agree with the whole garbage with gold. I don't think I've ever purchased a book or dvd, where every thing is actually useful or appealing to me. Usually it's just one or two specific effects that appeal to me, and the other stuff is just filler. But.. the good thing about the garbage, is sometimes, you can find hidden jems, in what most people think is rubbish. So, purchasing a one trick pony is probably because you know what you're getting. And I usually am more attracted to a method that has several different presentations, as oppose to just one presentation with a several methods. Or something like that. Actually I really don't know what I'm talking about. I'm tired.
It occured to me at once that love could be a great illusion, that makes fools of brilliant thinkers everyday

A simple performance followed by the method and any subtleties would have been sufficient. ARGH! I just went to play the file to remind myself of its content, but of course I upgraded my hardware just over a year ago and can't play it because the digital rights management system doesn't recognise me as the rightful owner! Now I feel doubly stung |
