Now I know the method really can be explained by saying "You really do it," but I'm looking for sources on the magazine memory test. Barrie Richardson has a great write-up in Act Two, but I'm curious if anyone else has written anything as to the routining around the demonstration.

Jason , the Mag Memory seems to be going through a revival in popularity
at the moment. I used it extensively in my cruise ship work. I'm actually writing a few ideas up for it at the moment that will be Notebook #2, but don't hold your breath. I've PM'd you a couple of interesting contacts. Timothy |

Sorry to hear that it's becoming the new in thing to do. I'm working on a memory act and thought I was going to stay one step ahead of the game. Oh, well.

any time spent on memory stuff is time well spent even if you don't perform it - helps lots of other areas. (like taking dancing lessons or learning to juggle) timothy |

I've used this routine for years and it always plays very strong.
We use Harry Lorayne's techniques and play it like a booktest where a freely chosen magazine is chosen from a bunch on the table and several different pages are called out by the audience. The practice it takes to learn is well worth it, as MrHyde has mentioned. STAY MYSTICAL |

Or is just one magazine memorized and it is forced? Isn't the strongest outcome of this style routine the fact that you've actually done what you say you've done? |

I also became interested in this some time ago, and have been practicing it. I have the Andruzzi Memory Test, Barrie Richardson's Act II, etc., but I have yet to find anything that gives you full details on the work - if, in fact, anything like that even exists. From what I can tell, it's basically a Nike commercial - just do it.

The Learned Pig website has Zufall's magazine memorization method. It's only a few pages dealing almost exclusively with the technique. The book is practically void of any routining.

There was an article in the Genii 60th anniversary issue several years ago with an excellent routine. Bill Larsen's I think. Addruzzi's audio cassette has some good suggestions.

Jason,
You last sentence in your post is correct. "...you've actually done what you say you've done." As to playing it as a booktest. Spectator freely chooses a magazine from a pile I have just pulled out of a bag (with a receipt). Members of the audience call out different page numbers and the spectator looks at the page. I "reveal" what is in the spectator's mind. Spectator shows page to audience to verify. I usually do this 3 different times, depending upon the audience. STAY MYSTICAL |
