Does anyone know if Louis Nikola's card castle method was ever published? Or is there a similar card castle available? (The key points being that it rises underneath a silk hankercheif, and then collapses when the table is "accidentally" bumped)

Most commercial card castles take the "easy way out" and connect the cards with cellophane tape to make a sort of "pop-up book" style card castle. Those are easy to construct and appear quickly, but do not collapse realistically as if the cards are disconnected (which, of course, they are not). To make the kind of card castle you describe requires a lot more time and patience, because the cards are strung together with monofilament, rather than hinged with tape. However, when you release the tension on the monofilament, the castle collapses much more realistically.
