IMPERVIOUS by Precision Magic
FIRST THOUGHTS When I first got interested in the newer CIB effects, I whent nuts and bought factory sealed, bullet, and this collection of CIB called Impervious. These routines are the work of Christopher Williams and Jeremy Hanrahan, both whose works are very alike and completely different at the same time. I will give my thoughts on each routine and what is explained to sell the effect as well as its comparison to factory sealed. OCULAR PERCEPTION Ok, the first offering is a CIB from Mr. Williams of the UK, and it is very practical. This version has the penetration being affected by the coin appearing to melt down into the bottle along the side(very nice looking too). Chris goes into many ways to affect the penetration, most which leave you clean. There are also many different ways to seal the bottles, but they all have their strengths and weaknesses. There is also a really nice spin display here that make the effect look so much cleaner and it features the magic around the performers face (like Shoot and Apollo's magic). I really enjoyed Chris' offering for Impervious and look forward to any other releases he may have. 10/10 UNTOUCHABLE This is the offering that Jeremey hanrahan brings to the collection and I'm just going to say from the start this is definitely not for me. There is a very interesting idea taught though that will make some say awesome, and some just say aww. The idea is called the Hanrahan hold and it uses a now very popular gimmick that if you wear, you nearly always have it(that's as much as I'm saying). The penetration Jeremey teaches takes a much different approch from the slide penetration of Chris' routine, Jeremey uses a pop penetration that looks incredible. Jeremey then teaches how to seal the bottle different ways than taught earlier, one which really reminds me of factory sealed. Like I said I think some will love this and others will not, but the overall presentation and effect is awsome! 10/10 BONUS The last routine taught in the dvd is by Christopher Williams and Gary Jones. This last routine is much more direct and to the point than the other routines, and its crazy visual. I'm not into fast presentations as much, but this is really cool and I think its the most impromptu out of all of them. I know that this is a near perfect solution to the impromptu CIB idea, and the only real downside I see is that you cant have the bottle sealed. This also uses an impromptu version of the Hanrahan hold, that with the subtleties that are taught, look as good as impromptu can get(when I say impromptu, I mean no real prep is needed or it can be set up during the routine). I really like this routine and will work on this to get it down for sure. 10/10 OVERALL The DVD overall features great graphics, international filming, great routines for more than one kind of performer, and great ways to leave your spectators impossible magical souveneirs. I was very impressed by the collection and think that this and factory sealed are the end all best solution to the real world coin in bottle effect. I think this will really make almost anyone happy, and I highly reccommend this and I say great job to the creators of Impervious. COMPARED WITH FACTORY SEALED Ok, both dvds feature things things that one covers and the other doesn't, which makes comparing them very hard. If you want the best routine I reccommend that you buy both Impervious and factory sealed, but just in case you only want one(why I don't know) here's my solutions: if you want more sealing methods then go for Impervious, but if you would like more ways to vanish the coin then factory sealed is better. Like I said, don't be prude get both because you'll have a lot of fun with the ideas taught. I say these are must buys!! |
