One of my favorite props over the last 5 years are my Windshield wiper sun glasses..I bring them out on Rain Days...
In a few days a spare pair purchased from Ebay should come in the mail. Don't go in the Rain Forest with out them....(great for rain and bird dropping protection...) I do bird calls ..as well as the old (inspired by Jonathan Winters.).whoosh whoosh whoosh of the birds wings flapping. If you don't have it Pat Fraley's Greatest Cartoon Voices smuggled out of Hollywood might be a great inspirational C/D. Harris

Besides consulting magicians I would also suggest to others and myself..use of
a theatrical director/consultant Someone who will tell you what you need to hear...not hold you back with attaboys and ego boost..

You are more than welcome, Eric. Eric has always been one of my favourite names, as one of the greatest ever comedy acts in England was that of Eric Morcombe and Ernie Wise. Most people in America will not know who they were.

Just to be clear, when I say "give Lyndel some ideas," I don't mean as in ripping off other people's effects (that's the other most frequent digression on a lot of threads). I mean, let's help brainstorm and share possible ideas with Lyndel, who is a frequent Café contributor always willing to chime in his helpful ideas, so that he can perhaps - if he is interested - use the leads we help provide to fashion for himself the kind of educational and/or entertaining routines that suit his purposes. Ya gotta be very specific around here or you get snared by the "naysayers in waiting . . ."

A great source of Rainforest animal picture cards (and those of other habitats - desert, arctic, ocean) is the "Awesome Animals" card game by International Playthings http://www.intplay.com

Harris: You will have to take some pics of your vast gag collection one of these days and let us all take a view. It would really be quite interesting my friend. Have fun with the new glasses.

The cards are 4.5" by 3" - about 50 percent larger than playing cards. But unlike Newt's Wild Deck (good animal cards with drawings but which are also plaing cards) these are habitat cards with big photos and a one-sentence explanation "Toucans live in South America, but some are found as far north as Mexico." You get several (four I believe) of each animal. For Rainforest, you get one "Rainforest Habitat" card, plus several Gorilla, Jaguar, Toucan, Asian Water Dragon cards (you get ocean, desert, arctic habits too). It seems to me that with a couple of these decks, you'd have enough of your four habitat animals to force whatever you want, and they are larger than playing cards (but still about half the size of Jumbo cards).

Rather than post a photo of my prop/site gags..I started a way to create site gags at your own venue..I use both, improvisation and already set props...
I also listen to my audiences to get new bits... For a while I wore a gray bun ladies wig...and from my audiences I got references to Bates Hotel...NORMAN, George Washington....and..(well can't give it all away...said Nigel)

Lyndel,
I was perusing one of the kids gift catalogs this Christmas, and saw a set of GIANT inflatable bugs ! I think there are three in the set, and they are very colorful and exotic looking. NOt sure what the catalog was, but a Google search for inflatable bugs might work. They would make nice production items for something like a square circle. Maybe the SC could be decorated on the outside with ferns or other plastic greenery. Perhaps some effect with snakes, as in spring snakes, might work well, too. Lots of options there. Check out the stuff Derek Rutt is making with spring snakes. Good luck, and let us know how things go ! Mark Pettey Naples, FL

Laflin puts out a silk effect called "Paint my Flower", seems like that would work great for a rain forest idea. sort of like a mis-made flag.
