Iv been playing around with these routines from roths book the past few days. pretty nifty clean shows and a interestign version where they end up with 2 copper coins in the specs hand and they remove one to then make the transposition. has anyone done these routines and found the "openness" or clean shows of the hands as a improvment on spec's or is this one of those, for magician types of things.

That is a good one =)
I think the real question I'm getting at, is that, are such things worth the trouble with the angles, distances ect ect |

Deep Back clips are very useful in some situations and fun to practice.
For me it's best used standing, with no one behind you, one one one, and/or with smaller coins. Whether it's worth the trouble is up to you. It's certainly not a sleight that's necessary. |

There are a couple of ideas and routines that got me to practicing DBC.
One was Fred Baumann's ideas in his book "Milestones in Coin Magic". Another was John Carney's 'Half Dollars in the Mist' routine which I had the pleasure of seeing live. Townsends work on recovering from DBC is what re-sparked my interest and opened up new possibilities. |

Yeah, iv been using it for about 2 years here and there and of course for homer's coins across, iv always like back cliping and the angles are not to shabby with DBC.
joe, iv been wanting that set for a while, I may try and get it very soon if I have the money. |

Yes Joshua, the DBC handling(s) are sensible and when you are standing and they are sitting or working at a coffee table... the EG handlings are also useful.
...to all the coins I've dropped here

Latta's routine on the New York Coin Magic Seminar DVD on Copper Silver gives away for the first time his deep back clip recovery, long held underground. I never thought we would be able to capture it on film and do it justice, but Scott, the camera man, found the right angle and got a great take on it.
My favorite routine using deep back clip is Roth's coins across, where he gets two ahead. It fried me as a teenager, and I still remember the exhilerating feeling of seeing pure, moveless sleight of hand - it looked like real magic. Its in Roth's book, and who knows, maybe on a future DVD release.
S.E.M. (The Sun, the Moon, and the Earth) is a sun and moon routine unlike any other. Limited to 100 sets, here is the promo:

What I like best about the DBC is the timing in getting into the position. Sneaky stuff.
And I agree with Jaz in mentioning JT's work on this, it is quite thorough and excellent. -Mb
