I have been doing Jazz Aces with the 4 Aces and 4 Jokers. I'm a little leery of using 4 "indifferent cards" for obvious reasons.
Has anyone ever been busted by a sharp-eyed spectator or am I just over-thinking this? Rob |

Frankly, the risk is there.
Cards never lie

Been using the Aces and Jokers for the last thirty years. I never liked taking chances either.
Cheers!

You guys are running without being chased. Black 8s and 9s work fine. Just don't say 4 aces and 4 random cards because they AREN'T 4 random cards. I never mention the other cards at all. The trick is about the aces, not the other cards.

I'm not running...I never was running! The way I learned "Jazz Aces" was with the Aces and Jokers. I never saw tne need to use the 8's and 9's. But if pressed I will use a borrowed deck and run it just the way Peter Kane wrote it.
FWIW Cheers!

Thanks for the replies.
pepka~What should I say in your opinion instead of "random" or "indifferent"? Should I say "4 *black* cards instead?" I'm not running, either. Maybe jogging though. I also learned JA's with the Jokers, and only recently became interested in using 4 cards from a normal deck to replace the Jokers after seeing a performance of it with the Bk 8s/9s. Stanyon~ Do you perform this a a packet trick, or do you pull the 4 A's and J's out of a card box? Rob |

I normally don't mention the other cards at all. " Watch here's the 4 aces, 1, 2, 3, 4. They jump, from here, to here." (Showing the first change.) etc.

I've always used the black 8's and 9's without any problems. The emphasis is on the aces, with everything else done as fairly and disarmingly as possible.

Thanks again all of you.
I'm going to keep doing this from the "packet", but my first "impromptu" will be this coming Saturday night. Thanks for your help, Rob |

Hello,
You would be surprised to find out that many people do notice that they have seen the same card twice but are not sure and therefore don't say anything. However, most people probably don't pay that close of attention to see it. A brisk pacing during the elmsley count does help eliminate this potential risk. There has been a lot of exposure out there especially on YouTube. I do a lot of television work and the VHS and now DVR really can "do you in" if someone wants to figure it out. All they have to do is rewind and watch you do it again. I like Jazz Aces and do my own version of it (Jumping Jacks) which eliminates the potential problem of seeing the same card twice. |
