Siegfried and Roy to perform for charity event Last Updated: Monday, February 11, 2008 |5:54 PM ET CBC News Las Vegas showmen Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn plan a one-off comeback show five years after a tiger attack ended their 30-year run in Las Vegas. The single show will be part of a charity event to be held in February for the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute. Roy Horn, left, and Siegfried Fischbacher in a recent promotional photo taken in Las Vegas. (Wayne Seal/Associated Press) Their publicist, Dave Kirvin, said they may be planning to perform with exotic animals. "Siegfried and Roy and white lions and other endangered animals go hand in hand," he said. The German-born duo started performing in Las Vegas in 1972. In 2003, Horn, who had years of experience working with animals, was hurt when his white tiger Montecore took him by the neck and dragged him offstage. Fischbacher and Horn now say they believe Montecore knew Horn was having a stroke and was trying to save him. Fischbacher told Larry King in 2006 that Montecore may have been attempting to carry Horn by the scruff of the neck, as a mother tiger carries her babies. Reports say Horn's long recuperation was not a result of blood loss from the tiger's bite, but brain damage from a stroke. He suffered partial paralysis and had to learn to walk again. The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, designed by architect Frank Gehry, is set to open in downtown Las Vegas next year. |

Very cool. I can't wait to see this. I have always thought that they had the most entertaining show. I wonder what they are planning to do. Thanks for the update.

Alright, this post is fine & dandy....But what is the real scoop here??
Roy was in pretty bad shape huge blood loss/stroke etc... Has anyone seen him in public lately? When was the last time Roy worked with a big cat? Will the cats even know & or trust him after all these years of NOT working? Personally they have had their day in the sun. Be happy with that... you both have been performing LIVE on stage for over 30 yrs, have done numerous TV specials & are simply lved by millions. Roy you have paid your dues, your health comes first... You have nothing to prove to anyone, & if its some agents goal to have Roy sitting in a chair & doing a color changing silk & call it a S&R come back then shame on them!! Yes, we would all love to see the wonderful Siegfried & Roy back on the boards... or is this post simply another Grand Illusion???? WL1 |

Actually, both Siegfried and Roy were recently out in public for the Santa Run here in Las Vegas not long ago. He seems to be doing a lot better as his recovery is actually pretty fast!
As far as the cats remembering them. Roy spends a lot of time with the cats these days. I'm sure its not quite as much as he use to but better than none nevertheless. It would be great to see these guys perform again. It'd be nice to see Roy do the pointing and Siegfried do the work now! -Bryan |

It will be interesting to see what type of show they put on. We should not expect to see the same show they did before Roy's accident. I would think that it would be way too physically demanding.

End of this article has SR website with some recent pics of Roy's public appearances. If Roy wants to do one more 'show', even if it is a baby cat, why not, if it will make him happier he should go for it without being judged.
z == Siegfried & Roy to Make 1-Night Comeback 8 hours ago LAS VEGAS (AP) — Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn plan to make a one-night-only comeback next February, performing their signature show at a fundraiser more than five years after a tiger attack ended their long-running production on the Las Vegas Strip. Fischbacher, 68, and Horn, 63, will perform at the Lou Ruvo Brain Institute's "Keep Memory Alive" fundraiser at a location yet to be confirmed. This year, tickets to the charity dinner cost $1,500; the event raised more than $12 million. Horn was critically injured when the white tiger, Montecore, sank its teeth into his neck and dragged him offstage in front of a horrified audience at The Mirage in October 2003, ending one of the most successful casino shows in Las Vegas history. The pair have said they believed Montecore sensed Horn was having a ministroke and was dragging him to safety, rather than attacking him. Publicist Dave Kirvin said Monday the German-born duo are working out plans for the act, adding that he would be "very surprised if animals were not part of the performance." "Siegfried and Roy and white lions and other endangered animals go hand in hand," he said. The Lou Ruvo Brain Institute, designed by architect Frank Gehry, is set to open in downtown Las Vegas next year.
