I know this has been discussed before, but I couldn't find it using any of my search terms.
Does anyone have any information regarding the appearance seen,Here? Is it a signature illusion with exclusive right to Lance Burton or can the plans be purchased or built by a known professional? Thank you

It's nice framing (pun intended) for a fairly common and well-known appearance. The flown painting (and frame) are great window dressing, but the platform appearance (and/or vanish) have been around for a long time. Most pro builders will be familiar with it.

What Thomas says, pretty much sums it up. The rolling of the painting when going up might be exclusive to Lance-that was a brilliant visual!

That was awesome! I liked how the painting moved when it was lifted.

I have been on stage with this particular illusion and there is a bit more to it than what you would think. Although it could be done on a regular unprepared stage, this version uses and special stage device to get him into position. I do not want to go into it exactly but if you need to know feel free to PM me.

Are there any books in which I could find plans for something like this?

Lance is loaded with birds at this point so no climbing in and out of cramped load compartments - hence the "stage device". |

Dirk Arthur opens his current show with a similar illusion (in regards to rotating plates within a frame and an outline of the illusionist). Dirk's was created by Don Wayne and built by Tim Clothier and I (more Tim then I!). It is a simple principle that has been around for a long time. I believe you can adapt basic principles of a common base and wind up with something more unique and original that would fit your own style of performance!

Ken Whitaker designed a similar illusion in his multi-illusion system that he sold.

Classy illusion perfectly adapted for the style of Lance. The base is a classic prop described in several books- for example "The grand illusons" of James Hodges

Lance at this point in the show is loaded for his classic dove and minip act and could not get into a base. If you could see the workings in person you would be very impressed by the technology. John
