What I'd do, if I wanted to create false explanations, is this -- I'd look into some B. S. pop-psychology pseudo-system that at least some people are familiar with, and learn some of the supposed ideas and techniques. When performing mentalism, I'd throw in some of those fake techniques, which wouldn't have anything to do with what I was performing.
Some people would recognize the silly stuff I was throwing out and think it really worked -- "Oh my god! Did you see that? He knew how much change the girl had in her pocket, but I totally recognize the mega-mind-refractory-diffusion-unframing techniques he used! I took a weekend seminar in that once! It must really work!" And I'd sit back and laugh like heck. I think an approach like this could really work. I'm surprised no one has tried it yet. R

Try reading Glemme. Not exactly what you want but will help I think. Also Duplicity will be a good read.
