Julian Franklin's "Kid Control" is a great book and I have been to a lecture at a S.A.M. Meeting & I.B.M. Ring.
But I just saw him at my son's Cub Scout "Blue & Gold Banquet" and just have to say he is amazing. The act was a great kids show but even better, he really can do what he writes about and lectures about. He had a volunteer that we all dread; a kid who "sits up tall and raises his hand quietly" and looks like the perfect, polite volunteer but when he gets on stage totally turns into a nightmare. I have to say that Julian handled the kid great. He did not embarrass the kid and Julian did not let the kid spoil the show. My jaw dropped as Julian did all of the things from his book "Kid Control" and they worked! I cannot say enough about how well he did.

Can you just let me know how much the check was for again? Was it $500 or $1000?
JoJo-->waiting with bated breath for the answer, with check book in hand.

Julian is, in my opinion, one of the most competent and successful business-oriented entertainers in the kidshow genre. He and his wife are focused on real education through entertainment - not just lip service or a series of disconnected effects rigged to deliver a pseudo message. I've known him for years and, believe me, he walks the talk. His books and programs are worth every cent. His friendship is priceless.

I was lucky in that I was one of the select group of 5 to attend Julian's first workshop. What a learning experience! Yes his books and programs are worth every $$ you spend. Julian is one of the top pro's in our business.

The simple and effective advice this man GIVES every month in The Linking Ring is priceless. I personally feel its the best column anywhere for a working magician.
I have never taken a business class in my life and the tips he gives monthly are exactly what I needed to see on paper as my career progresses. I save them all. Thanks Julian!!! You rock |

I will second Bill's post on Julian's workshop. I have gone the last two years and surprisingly learned more the second time.
He is only doing one more workshop in Jan, 2009. hint hint |

I have to agree he knows his stuff I was at the 2008 workshop a long way from Scotland it worth the time away from my newborn and the 2 burst eardrums I got on the flights. I am hoping to take my other half with me this year I'm still in talks with the grandparents for the babysitting duties. If you are a fulltime pro or you want to be it's the best money you will ever spend and it cost me a lot more coming from the U.K
