I apologize in advance, there is probably a topic already about this I just can’t find it.
I am looking for a good BOOK TEST, and I just don’t know where to start, any advice would be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU! |

Please don't take this as Iam being mean here. But use the search, you will find tons of good book tests. Might I suggest you check out Outlaw-Effects. http://www.outlaw-effects.com
No one said it would be easy, or did they?

Thanks Virungan for the link.
I guess I am a little more curious than most. I have never used a book test nor do I know how it works, so I am just interested in the handlings and practicality, of course the cost. |

A very versatile book test is Larry Becker's Ultimate Flashback. You can find it on Viking's site.
Also, anything by Outlaw is highly recommended.

The Brook Test - Paul Brook
Impromptu, any borrowed book, any page, any word on that page, there is a review on the café if you do a search! |

Seconded for Paul's Brook Test - and a terribly blatant plug for my own too...i'm blushing terribly as I write this - whilst also rubbing my hands together in maniacal glee..
which technically means I'm typing with my toes...

Why not make your own book test?
A trip to a used book shop, or one that sells discounted paperbacks. Three of the same size, two with the same covers, you can switch covers and have three identical books with different covers on them. From then on the possibilities are endless. It took me about 30 minutes to remove/replace the necessary covers. Now I've got three Agatha Christie books, as well as three world war two novels that I can use. I did this before I spent ££/$$ on some well produced book tests that I use in connection with my own self made tests. Good luck. |

In book tests I always like to use unfaked books, either current best sellers or travel books which are full of pictures, facts, figures and other interesting details. There are various ways to force pages, including the Hoy subtlety, use Larry Becker's brilliant force book supplied with Ultimate Flashback or I have come up with another method, Page of Thoughts. Either do a search or PM me for details. But going with books your audience will be familiar with has a lot ot commend it.
Good luck Neil |

I like to use a borrowed book from an audience member if that's possiable. I use one of the method's found in Peek Performances for the dirty work. It's very direct..you know, but effective.

For an impromptu book test, Marc Paul's AAA book test is simple and simply marvelous.

You still can't beat Hoy for an easy, unprepared, impromptu performance! That said, I always carry Lee Earle's Silver Bullet Light in my bag just in case I need to really slay the doubters...
