Bobo and Roth again! Also when you get through the book and are ready to move to some other stuff check the coins guys section of the Café. A lot of generous people there! You might even find a mentor or two!

While I usually prefer books to video, and you should definitely pick up Bobo (it only costs around 10 bucks), for coin magic I think you'll make faster progress with video. ROth's videos are the best, but Micheal Ammar has a pretty good dvd (introduction to coin magic) if you can't afford the full Roth set. Coin magic has a pretty steep learning curve and it really helps to see what the moves are supposed to look like. Coin magic really depends on naturalness, timing and routining, all of which are easier to pick up from video.

If you want to save time in learning the ropes of coin magic follow the advice we all givve but in a different way: get the DVD version of Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. You'll save a lot, a lot of time. At the same time, if you want to learn the subtleties in each of the moves get Michael Rubinstein's DVDs Encyclopedia of coin sleights. Interlace your DVD watching (subject by subject) so that you don't get hooked on one style. Learn coin sleights from DVD and learn coin magic routines from books
If you want to learn routines the choice is wide: David Roth, Ross Bertram, Kurtis Kam, David Neighbors, Kainoa Harbottle, Reed McLintock, Richard Kaufmann. Just figure out if you are going to perform with or without a table, standing or (rarer) sitting... Finally learn how to write scripts for your effects (Darwin Ortiz, Juan Tamariz...)
Magic is the art of emotionally sharing live impossible situations

Just to say, There are 2 versions, one published by Magic Inc and the other by Dover. You make the choice.

Hi, rklew64! If I may add, The Dover book is a paperback and the Magic Inc is hardcover. Am I right? Also, there is more material in the Magic Inc. version, if I'm not mistaken. I had both, at one time. Either one is essential reading for coin magic. Also, if you can become a member of The Learned Pig (what a name, LOL!), the book is free, on their site. Google The Learned Pig, for their website.
