Reasons you should convert to Apple.
1. Solve an issue where you have an excess of unwanted cash. 2. Desire to support a company who's commercials are among the most insulting and misleading in the commercial industry. (and boy is that saying something) 3. You want everything to "just sort of work. (except when they just sort of don't, and then you don't ever ever ever want them to actually work) 4. A strong desire for inflexibility in your life. Myth? I spent about $500 on the system I play WOW on. I defy you to do that with a Mac, and that's really the issue. If you don't want to know ANYTHING about computers, and have a cash reserve, then Macs are the computers for you. I will not dispute that. Don't ever plan on upgrading it. Things are slightly more likely to work initially on a Mac than a PC, if it doesn't just initially work, then hang it up, it never will. PCs are a lot more flexible. |

This argument always reminds me of the Keds Vs. Converse arguments we had in grade school.
But specifically in what ways are PC's more flexible? Just curious.

I don't play WOW or such games so I wouldn't know. And, I don't watch TV so commercials don't matter to me, but I generally don't favor one product over another because of advertising anyway.
Generally the professionals I've known in the creative fields of video, music, graphic design, etc. prefer Macs hands down, as I do.

Tom Bartlett and Doug Higley already think I'm scum with legs, DARE I INCITE THE APPLE TRIBSTERS AS WELL?
Sure, why not... Check out this blurb on slashdot.org about apple fans: Insufficient adulation! (It's not so bad, actually...)

Erich, for what you want to use a computer for, a mac would MORE than suffice. Jack is a bit inaccurate about upgrading a mac. You can upgrade such things as memory and hard drive. Things like video cards can be a bit more difficult. I switched back to Mac about 3 years ago after having my fill of viruses and spyware; I don't regret it a bit. The iLife suite that comes with every Mac is great for dealing with photos, videos and music. The best thing about Apple is that the software and hardware work so well together. Whereas Windows/PC software has to work with different PC manufacturers. I have an iMac that I use as my media machine, and a MacBook as my main computer. Love'em both and wouldn't go back to Windows if you paid me.

No, it just depends on what you are planning on doing with the computer. If you're a dumb*** that doesn't know jack about how to protect yourself, your computer, or the information on it, then yes, you'll have virus trouble on a pc. Scott, do you get a sore back from bending over in front of Steve Jobs like this all the time?
I am reminded of an episode a Seinfeld, as I usually am. Where George stops having sex and starts becoming smarter. Elaine tries the same thing to get her boyfriend, through med school, so she can say she's dating a doctor. George: Yeah, my cleaning lady's Portuguese. I must've picked it up. Elaine: How come he's gettin' so smart? I stopped having sex with Ben three days ago and I don't know no Portuguese? Jerry: Are you all right? Elaine: I don't know. It's just the last coupla days my mind has been, not good. Jerry: Wait a second, I know what's happening. The no sex thing is having a reverse effect on you. Elaine: What? What are you talking about? Jerry: To a woman, sex is like the garbage man. You just take for granted the fact that any time you put some trash out on the street, a guy in a jumpsuit's gonna come along and pick it up. But now, it's like a garbage strike. The bags are piling up in your head. The sidewalk is blocked. Nothing's getting through. You're stupid. Elaine: I don't understand. Jerry: Exactly. In this case, in comparison to pc user, the mac user is the woman that Jerry describes. :)

Doug, you of all people know that evolution is merely a theory and no one has proven it, so how can we even use such a word in good conscience?

How are you really going to use your computer?
I love Mac. If you buy a Mac buy it fully loaded and you'll rarely need to buy new software until the old machine goes kaput. I appreciate windows. I can't run a CNC machine off my MAC (Grrr) and I don't need it for spread sheets. Therefor, Mac suits me best.

An Apple a day keeps the conflicts away. Steve Jobs will bring universal peace to the cyber-world. Even Bill Gates made billions by investing in Apple. Everybody wins!
