I need some advice for creating the theatrical illusion of an explosion. In the scenario I need to make it seem like a large flying bird(my partner) has crashed onto the stage. The end result would be a large poof of smoke along with feathers shooting upwards 5-6 feet. No flames or excessive noise. Something exciting even for kids. Any suggestions on how I could do this inexpensively?
Thanks

Does it have to occur on the stage floor or would it be ok if it happens behind a prop?
You could use a CO2 operated confetti cannon, loaded with feathers and talcum powder for the smoke effect.

Behind a prop would work great since I would have to go to that point to "save" my friend to begin our act.
Thanks
