I just got a set of Penguin cups from someone on this site. I think they look and feel great. They nest together real nice and feel heavy especially compared to my old Aluminum set. I don't plan on using them for the street so I'm happy with them. Best of all, they were new and only cost $65.00.

Very cool Bill.
How does one locate the cup in the Museum? I may have already seen, but would love to take a look. Best Shawn

The Penguine Cups are absolute CRAP! At least mine were. After about 2 months of major usage (5 nights a week in restaurants) they were so banged up they wouldn't nest properly and would sometimes stick inside the other cups. Made the Miller move very hard when you try to pick up one cup on the nest and ALL the cups come up with it.
I got the RNTII Paul Fox Cups in Copper and am LOVING THEM!

I own Penguin cups, and they have worked really great for me. The weight is really comfortable. As it is said, they are not for street performance, but for close-up or practicing, they are some good material. They nest perfectly and I even received them with some sort of old finish as if they where an antique. I love bizarre magick and antiques, so I think this cups have also some detail of that.

Yeah, the size is too small for my performance loads, but I've been so taken by these cups that I've been messing around with smaller loads and trying to think of new routines just so I can use them more.
I bought them mainly because I've been collecting like I've got money to burn (which I haven't), but then I developed a thing for them. |

I had been thinking for awhile of upgrading to a better set of cups and balls. After reading the reviews here and on the Penguin Magic site itself, I decided that, although the price was right ($99.00) the quality of the penguin cups was simply too variable, and I have heard some ngatives about their customer service of late. I looked over what Bill Palmer has written, and finally decided to get a set of the RNT2 copper Paul Fox cups, satin finish.
I ordered them on Thursday and they were here on Saturday! I don't even know how that's possible. And let me say they are beautiful. They handle like a dream, stack perfectly, don't get stuck together. They are perfectly finished and smooth on the inside as well as the outside, an issue I have heard some people complain about with the Penguins. So all told, I am extremely happy with the cups I got and hope I will never need to buy another. Thank you everybody who has posted extensively on this site on this topic, for helping me make the decision. |

I want to chime in on this topic a little too. I have a set of the penguin cups and for the price you could do worse. Like everything they churn out these sets by the thousands and are meant for the ametuer that wants to look like the pros. That said you could use them your as a pro just as well as Paul fox cups. They may not take the beating others do but they are not terrible cups.
I use the foxy 3 cups now and I will tell you they are a much better cup. The balance, the metal gauge, etc. but the finish of the cups has been awful. The inside of the cup was given a finish of some sort that was meant flatten the shine or make the inside of the cup look finished, not totally sure, but now it looks like corroded copper. The outside shelac(?) was somewhat inconsistent and made the patina awful for a very long time. I guess my point is though RNT 2 does great work they too, just like penguin, can have rough products. I would still recommend the latter cups first because they are great cups but I would recommend the penguin cups too depending on your pocket book. |

I started off with a Bazar de Magia Aluminium set, They were fine for starting out. I then got a set of Tom Frank Phoenix cups. Very solid and weighty. I then wanted to try jumbo sized cups. I again tried cheaper aluminium cups but they just felt strange and difficult to work. Ulimately I prefer working with a heavier cup. This is one of the properties that makes a cup more expensive.
