Looking at what seems to be an endless list of authors on mentalism, it would be interesting to discuss who you feel are the most original of today’s thinkers and why, a couple of names I would put forward are Paul Brookes and Jerome Finlay, both willing to push the boundaries of what they do to the limits.

I think that we all stand on the shoulders of the Giants who have gone before us. Almost everything is derivative in some way, from the ideas and concepts of others.
Throughout the history of Magic or Mentalism, there have been only a small handful of completely original creators. On the other hand, there have been many who have taken existing ideas and concepts and taken them into new, exciting directions that hadn't been dreamed of before. Of today's thinkers, Paul Harris comes to mind. Luke Jermay. Hector Chadwick. Derren Brown. Paolo. Gerrard. Patrick Redford. Banachek. Gary Kurtz. Another thing to consider is that creativity or originality purely for the sake of originality isn't necessarily a useful thing. If that creativity and originality is tied to practicality and it has potential for entertainment, then, in my opinion, it's a wonderful contribution to the Mentalist's "book of knowledge". - entity

I think Entity hit it on the head with originality and practicality being tied so tightly...
Pipe dreams are one thing... Workable material is another. J
