It was a rough day; a freak power outage caused major computer issues resulting in my missing the Mystery Lounge tonight.
But when I arrived home, I saw my daughter out walking (or should I say pushing) my grandson. I joined in and went for a walk with them. My daughter then filled me in on the weekend events. They had gone to the American Baby Faire in Foxboro (yes, home of the Patriots) on Sunday and my grandson competed in the Baby Derby races for the title of Boston’s “fastest crawler." In the first race, he was a little confused at the sound of the gunshot and did not know what to do, but my daughter stood at the finish line waving what he would like. While the other parents coaxed their children with toys and cell phones, my daughter waved a cookie. Seeing the cookie, my grandson took off and passed all but one of the other kids and got his cookie. Second place was good enough for the finals, so he was soon off for another race. He won this hands (and knees) down and claimed another cookie. But for some reason there was a do-over for the race. Why was not explained to me. Now two races, and cookies completed, he was set down for his third. He took off and was way ahead of all competitors when he decided he had done enough for his cookie and wanted it right then. With a little more coaxing he got up off his little behind and finished the race coming in third, even with his pit stop. So although he may not have the title, and only placed third, Tristan was clearly the fastest baby in Boston (or Foxboro), at least that day. He was hands and knees ahead of the others. They must have been some good cookies! Tony |

Tristan? That is the third Tristan I've encountered in like two weeks. Did the baby get named after the fellow in All Creatures Great and Small? Wonderful book. Congrats on the speedy baby.

No, I asked about that and about the Cornish hero and knight of the round table, but received a blank look. Tristan was named after someone on televison.

Something tells me he is destined to marry a girl named "Isolde".
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I think it is a very cool name, different yet not stupid and it has a literary reference.
