I just heard a report on NPR's Talk of the Nation -- Science Friday about researchers in Europe using FMRI to view cognitive activities. In this case, the subjects were given two buttons, one in each hand, and were told to spontaneously push one of the buttons. Analysis of the FMRIs allowed the researchers to identify which button would be pushed seven seconds before the subject "spontaneously" pushed it. The researchers identified this as the subconscious reaching a decision and then passing it on to the conscious mind.
This strikes me as good patter source for a decision effect -- maybe the Yes/No cards? -Phil in KC |
