Actually we all misunderstood Fish here, or Kevin I should say.

Just bought the 4 DVD set by magic makers (bobo's), heard good things about it. He is just asking about the DVD and never mentioned about the classic palm is right or wrong. Mickey just gave opinion about the classic palm in the DVD and suddenly everyone talk about the classic palm. lol. But I am pretty sure Kevin is working on his classicpalm as we speak. I have chatted with him several times Let's all hope everythings goes well and our friend Kevin(Fish) will eventually master it. |

I thought when I taught the Classic Palm, it would be easier to see which muscles I used, if I opened up the hand as much as possible, thus flaring out the thumb. So I guess it was a bit misleading. Sorry Kevin!
I don't stick out my thumb when I classic palm. But I wasn't teaching MY way, I was teaching what was in Bobo's book. Hope you still learned good stuff from the DVDs! Best of Luck! Ben S

It's an excellent set Ben and you did a bang up job! As to the CP I'm sure you have a fine one! Both Roth and Ammar are sticklers on the thumb popping in their instruction and suggest touching the tip of thumb and fore finger together to avoid this!

I got the DVDs today - I don't see a problem with the comments on the CP...IMO it's a move that will vary slightly from person to person anyway and just requires a lot, lot, lot of practice. Certainly, it's best not to telegraph the move with your thumb but even if you do, a layperson shouldn't notice and if you turn to the side or otherwise keep your hand angled towards your body, noone can see the thumb kick out anyway.
This is a terrific companion to the book and certainly has clarified several questions I had about various routines and moves covered in the book. Good job Ben! |

If properly angled, no, you cannot see the thumb kick from the front...you got a mirror don't you bro?

OK, I tried this in front of the mirror a couple of times and it can be done but I admit it is a bit of a stretch...maybe just learn the CP from Ammar's video...

Mballen,
What you see in the mirror is not a very a good gauge as to what the spectator sees! Even a video does not see what the human eye sees. Then add the fact that your spectator(s) are watching from several different angles and height levels. Practice what is taught by Roth and Ammar (as well as others I'm sure) and avoid at all cost the dreaded thumb pop! Then once you can get into CP in a clean and convincing manner, start working on making your hand(s)(both r and l) look as natural as possible and NOT like you have crippling arthritis or you're squeezing lemons (thank you VM)! Otherwise....... WTF! Mick |

Adding Mickey's advice, David Stone on Basic Coin Magic have a good advice on preventing the thumb pop
I come to realize that preventing thumb pop is the first tough challenge in CP, next is squeezing lemons ! First time I succeed in CP, it was like squeezing small lemons ! So ugly now the lemons just got bigger, hopefully will vanish later |

Yeah, I'm bad about the thumb pop with my right hand...somehow I learned it without the thumb pop with the left hand but it will take some time to work through the thumb issue with my right hand...I just get so much more grip when I pop the thumb - it's going to be a difficult habit to break...
