Hello All:
I was listening to Chuck Smith the other day, and he mentioned a book by an astronomer who had a theory about Venus entering the solor system. It had biblical implications. The name of the book was something about "Worlds Collide" but I've googled and can't seem to find. Can anybody help me with the title? It has nothing to do with gospel magic, but I'm hopeful someone here can come to the rescue. Ron |

Hmmmmm... I recall the 1951 movie classic "When Worlds Collide". But that was about the imaginary planet Bellus hitting Earth and no mention of Venus. Sorry.
Have you checked astrophysicist Hugh Ross' website http://www.reasons.org ? Maybe it was Dr. Ross who had this theory. I've not heard of it though. Please let us know what you find. Sounds interesting. Joe |

Thanks, Joe. I found the title - it's called "Words in Collision" and was written about 50 years ago by a Russian Scientist, who was not a Christian. The part Chuck Smith was refering to was about the Joshua's Long Day. The man who wrote the book wanted to find out out if other ancient cultures on the opposite side of the world recorded a long night at about the same time as the the Bible's record of Joshua's long day. And of course the answer is yes, other ancient cultures did record a long night.
I believe the writer's theory is that Venus came into the Earth's orbit and changed the direction of the Earth's rotation, which caused the long night, along with other things. I'll have to get the book to get my facts straight. Ron |

You can probably go to Chuck's website and listen to that broadcast...
