I once had a real quarter where the top layer started to split off. I guess this is how double headers are made. What is the method to remove this layer off the coin?

I always thought double headers were a shell with a permanant insert. A friend told me this but he could be wrong.

Might be but ive seen the top layer of a quarter peel off. Does anyone know how to get it unsolidered or however its attached?
