I don't know if I'm the only one that suffers this, but I have a really hard time with Tenkai pinch. My fingers are long and skinny and I think my knuckles are just knobby enough to make this a bit difficult. I notice that when I get the coin into Tenkai, I have a fine strip of silver visible between my fingers. I think angle wise, in a low light situation, it would work. In good light, though, I may as well be advertising what I'm doing.
Any other narrow fingered individuals had some success with this one? |

Geoff Latta, when confronted with "windows" which prevented him from using finger palm, adapted edge grip to a curled third finger and raised his hands up away from his zipper.
If a particular concealment doesn't suit your hands, use a different concealment. It's not about HOW you hide the coin, it's about how you construct the routine so they don't expect the coin is in your hand. |

It Maybe the Easiest Backpalm But The Downs full backpalm has the best angles!

Rem, reach out to the Godfather Vinny here. He has a video of a neat way that might help you with this.

I have the same kind of hands Rem. I also have the same kind of problem. What I do is make sure I am "totally aware" of my audience and adjust the height and angle of my hand to help hide the edge of the coin. What you see is the edge of the coin from a top view, but as long as you don't have your spectators right on top of you to get that top view, you can adjust as I said earlier. It works real well for me and haven't been caught yet.....
Where I go, so do my coins.....

Mostly it's just a matter of practice. I thought I would never be able to perform a Goshman pinch but after months and months, I can now get into and out of the sleight rather easily. Also, as Fingers said, be aware of your audience and the angles...

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm probably going to have to treat this like when I was learning CP and walk around with a coin in Tenkai all the time! hehe

In time you will be able to pinch the coin with just the lower half of your fingers. That is when you'll be able to hide it from the top. Just try to get the coin deeper or should I say lower. Finger strengh is were its at. The only way to get it is from practice. Keep at it my friend you'll get it. If you need more help let me know. I'll be happy too.

If you allow your Pinky to move slightly under your Ring finger, where only half of your pinky is seen from the top, this will keep the edge of the coin out of sight. I have long skinny window'ed fingers and this works well for me. The routine has to be designed well also.
I never just hide a coin in the Tenkai pinch and attempt to show that hand empty. Even if they can't see it, they'll figure something is hidden, why else would you go to all the trouble of proving it's empty. |
