What I don´t like with the dvd is that the close-up performances are cut down. You can´t see the whole performances. A shame, some of the tricks get quiet ununderstandable because of that.

Hey there,
Just a short note ... that Shawn Farquhar guy is from Canada ... not the USA as mentioned in the review ... I agree that the editing and actual filming of the special are not stellar, but no time was taken to block or even discuss the routines and filming with the director who had not seen many of the acts. For shooting it live without prior understanding of the acts I think they did awesome. It's a worthwhile DVD ... heck I bought one ... Cheers, Shawn |

If I remember correctly, the ending of Martin Eiseles routine is not on the dvd (Heigler? Should be Eisele I guess), the beginning of both Stone and Merril is cut out where especially David Stones perfomance gets kind of out of sync for me, and Farquhar did also perform a card trick. And, Helders awesome routine is edited in the middle. The stage perfomances on the other hand seems complete.
It´s still a nice dvd, although the voice over gets annoying at times, especially since the market for the dvd is for a lay audience (who I seriously doubt will spend money on a dvd - I guess most will see it as a tv-special if they see it at all). If FISM had taken some consideration before and during the filming the end product would have been much better. Atleast the performers should have had the opportunity to talk to the camera crew beforehand. Did they even knew there would be a dvd? I still, almost two years later, shudder when I think of the parody the prize award turned out to be. Read more about that here, http://fismreports.blogspot.com/. Hopefully the Beijing competition will be more elegantly handled. But all this is history now! Buy the dvd and get a glimpse of how great a FISM Championship is! |

I have this DVD as well and trust me it's worth it.
But I've heard that in this DVD all the BGM that every magician uses is NOT really the ones they use, is this true? but why? |

And being a big Stone fan I was disappointed with this. However there are a lot of other acts on the DVD where you don't notice that they've been cut. This is definitely worth the purchase. I can't wait to buy the 2009 (as I won't be able to make it there). Luke |

Does anyone know where I can buy the FISM 2009 DVD, if there is one?
