Sorry for not posting sooner. The coffeehouse performance went very well. I don't want to sound arrogant but...there were no screw-ups and everyone seemed to pay attention the majority of the time. It was the first time I worked somewhat "from a distance". I usually work closer to my spectators but this was a little different. In one aspect, I liked it better in that I felt that I could get away with more...being a little farther away. I did a few routines that sometimes give me the butterflys...but felt a little "braver" possibly because of the distance. One piece of self criticism...I felt that an hour was a bit long for the spectators. I probably did too many routines and in the future might consider doing fewer routines and a little more extended routine introductions and patter. I could tell toward the end that a few spectators were displaying body language that said "I've seen enough". I think there might be a point where the "return on investment becomes" nil. I did use a wireless mic and I'm really glad I did. For all of the planning I did beforehand, I felt that the performance went well. However, I think its always good to have a little honest self evaluation and say "what can I do better?" It will probably be a long time before I'm totally satisfied with my performance. But that's part of it all. Its going to take a lot more work and practice before I'm going to be totally happy with where I'm at. By the way, thanks to all you guys for the great support. I feel like part of a really tight community here. I really do appreciate it.

Man, some of my first performances (for tips) were in coffee shops/houses. I actually started by getting a spooky subject going and then started doing CTs and billets with a spooky theme of course.
I became known as that guy at the coffee shop that swallowed some thread and pulled it out of his ankle/chest/stomach lol. Great times. Gypsy monte 2003 and a PK touch routine went over extremely well. John Kennedy's double whammy always floored 'em and there are coffee mugs everywhere and it always played nicely. I miss those days. I hope you had a great performance Billm55. |
