Unfortunately, my family and I won't be able to attend the convention. I have 3 registrations at the $295 price (plus a $25 transfer fee.) I also have a suite at the Galt Hotel. (which is sold out.) I can transfer this room to your name.
Contact me for more info either by PM or Email. |

Trinity,
I have sad news for you. The Galt House will not allow you to transfer the room reservation. Of course, they will allow you to cancel the reservation. I wish it were not true, but I tried Friday and there was NO LEVEL of COOPERATION in transferring a room reservation. There are plenty of vacancies available at the Galt House but the rate is $30/day more. At this stage, there may actually be an advantage in seeking lodging elsewhere. (Famous last words, since Lucy and I are staying at the Galt House anyway. LOL) Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

Bob...I had a reservation transfered to my name at the Galt house from someone on the Café. I guess its possible that they are not doing it at this time...but they did it for me.
Also...The Galt house told me they were sold out of rooms...at any price if you wanted the full week. Saturday July 26th was completely sold out...I was on a waiting list for a cancellation just for Saturday night and had reservations for Mon through Friday. I made a full week reservation at the Mariott across the street as well. Of course I canceled everything when the Galt House reservations from another Café member were transfered to my name. Anyway...see you all there. Rich B. |

Rich,
It sounds like you simply traded one set of reservations for another. Is that true? The net result would only amount to a change in room type or rate. Bob PS --- I think they SHOULD allow transfers. otherwise, the Marriott is actually a better deal if you have a car. |

Bob,
how would Mariott be better. What price are you getting at the Galt House? ps. I'd prefer the Mariott if the price end up better, since I can get more points =P |

No Bob. When I booked the convention in Jan. 2008 (I know...I could have save lots of money), The Galt House was completely sold out on Friday night during the convention (not Saturday as in my previous post above).
So I made reservations at the Galt House for Mon-Thurs and Saturday night for $124 per night(thats all they had left). I was put on a cancellation list for Friday night should a room come available. I then booked at the Mariott across the street for the full week at $129 per night. A kind gentleman from the Café posted that he would not be going to the convention and offered to transfer his room at the Galt House to someone. I took him up on his offer and the room was transfered from his name to my name at $99 /night. So I saved some cash. I then canceled the other reservations. Rich B. |

Rich,
Friday, the Galt house would not honor transfers of reservations. Of course, we all know that there will be plenty of cancellations as the time draws near. Many of us have already been offered the reservations that others certainly will ultimately cancel. Consistency is an integrity question for Galt House. Andost, Aside from price, there is also the $12/day for guest parking at The Galt. Walking across the street may make a lot of sense. Bob |
