Hi there

Just wanted to chime in here about the pic in the new Ripleys Book. That hypnotist learned the act from Harley as well...

Harley seems to be the true king of spreading the joy of firecrackers

Naw... Harley is the true king of having signature moves stolen from him. But as most victims of theft... what can ya do?

Hi again

It's probably true that it's been ripped off a few times, but not in this case.

You guys are making my head swell.

I can't believe (rhetorically speaking only) that pix of my first blowup exist, and it amazes me that this thing I rarely do, has had such impact. Wiz, you're a wiz!

"That Hypnotist" would be Ian Stewart?, a good person from Nova Scotia. He did firecrackers on the Tonight Show, a couple of years back. I built him a nice oak ladder of swords, too, that folds up into its own carrying case.

I want Harry Noodleman to teach me the Firecrackers too. As long as I don't have to swallow stuff, I'm in. Deal?

Hey Doug,

Remember you've been doing that nipple thing so if you blow them off then you won't be able to lift your zibits!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like what George said on the show, when you're as tall as I am, there's two things you can do. Be a basketball player or a freak and I don't like basketball.

Doug, I can help you out with the nipple thing if you'd like.... or I could lift the zibits for you. How's THAT for a blow off?!!

May you all have a bang-up 4th of July, and nobody blow themselves up!

Unless, of course, it's your goal.

I just looked it up and, yes, it's Ian Stewart.

On re-reading the piece, perhaps my reaction was a bit strong. It does refer to mind over matter and self hypnosis, which I suppose is more spin than outright lie, but it is a bit misleading.

It just bugs me when people present these stunts as something mystical or paranormal.

Okay, my wife just returned from HERE with a carload of expensive stuff that's gotta be illegal in 49 states (God bless Alabama!). Awesome catalog and even more awesome store to visit.

I think I'll strap half of it to my chest tomorrow and hope for the best.

When I was in high school I got my hands on some strung together firecrackers. Thinking I was being cool, I took them apart so I could set them off one at a time. So, during lunch break, all the kids are outside smoking (yeah, it was THAT kind of school) so I took out a little guy with the paper type fuse. I lit it and waited before I would throw it. Well, this type of fuse has NO delay... it went off right in my hand between my thumb and forefinger. People nearby looked at me like I was an idiot (well, I WAS... happens when yer young). It felt like someone took a hammer and smashed my fingers. Never did THAT again.... I do that stuff with regular type fuses now.

Felt like sharing.

Happy Indie Day, try not to blow off any important body parts.

Thanks Harry. The wonderful exploits of our own personal GIANT. Also just plain good folks.

And kudos to the Library system for having cajones!
