This is a great FAMILY movie. Find a 3-D theater (forget it in 2-D), there are only 800 in the USA and have a Theme Park moment. This is a fun movie! Decidedly silly...ie: they don't just stumble on a mine car track that reminds you of a roller coaster IT IS a Roller Coaster...being a movie of wonderful 3-D gags and gimmicks (ala a Theme Park presenttation only ful length), you'll enjoy the ride. Brendan Frasier is his usual fun guy to be around. (If I had a Brother!) the girl is a KNOCK OUT and the kid is really fun for a change with comic timing that matches Frasiers.
The special visual effects are wonderful, creative, Beautiful and many times pretty funny. The story is perfunctory (who cares) but moves the action at a steady speed...FAST. A few of the comic lines (tipped in the trailer) are choice as delivered by the hero and the kid. My favorite idea that moves the action is that they realize that Jules Verne's book was an actual account and that some scenics are exactly as depicted in the old illustrations and it dawns on them that that must also include the DANGEROUS aspects of the world they tumble into! RUN!!!!!!!!! There is one scene (on the raft) in which the entire theater cleared their seats. 3-D is going to be every other movie in the coming few years...this is the opening salvo using the NEWEST technology and James Cameron's newly developed camera. It works! The 3-D is PERFECT..the images HD Sharp and most of the movie's budget winds up on the screen for just a second before it's in your lap. You WILL be drooled on by a T-Rex. This is the gimic release...future films won't have near the amount of 3-D 'comin' at ya' that this one packs in. So... If your a snob or too cool for your own good don't bother. If you like in your face fun and gags and a movie the kids will thank you for, see Journey To The Center Of The Earth BUT ONLY IN 3-D. As a 2-D or flat DVD it will just tick you off. We really enjoyed the ride and it IS a ride...designed as a ride and succeeds as a ride. Does it make sence? Hell no...no time for that! Duck!

But then André De Toth, the director of that 3-d Classic "House of Wax" only had one eye as well which probably explains why that film isn't as gimmick reliant as Center of the Earth looks to be. Me, I'm waiting for The Mummy 3 to be my next Brendon Frasier excursion.

Yeah Mummy 3 looks terrific! Glad to see Fraser (corrected spelling) back in action. The guy's comic timing is a joy to behold.
I was wondering who was going to post the 'one eye' excuse. Maybe if you shake your head real FAST you can create the illusion? (No sympathy for the Debil) By the way...I decided to put up my Review site. http://sidewayobserver.com Figure I'd put all that movie watchin' to good use. (There are expansion plans)
