Hey everyone, nostalgia, every once and a while, will come back and nip you in the bud, in this case, a little piece of magic found it's way back to me today. I rummaged through my bag o' magic and to my suprise found a leather bound wallet dealio and opened it, it had 2 pockets, in 1 pocket, I had 5 cards that are known as "Zener cards" cards invented by one karl zener who wanted to test Esp ability. in the other pocket I had found 5 cards with a letter on each, 1 saying L the other I, the other N, the other E, and the last, S, this would appear to spell lines if ordered correctly, mysterious, I think. anyhow I had read the instructions to these once and they were hard to understand, don't get me wrong, they were in english, but they were NOT written in lamens terms. after a year or two or so I lost these directions and a year or two after that I find myself with this deck of cards, all patterned red on the back, 10 cards, 5 zener pictures, and 5 random letters of the standard english alphabet, and here I leave you with a question, what in the heck do I do with these mystical puppies of mishchief??? if you know or think you know or even have some crazy, wacky idea as to what in the world I should do with these cards, then please do tell. I would very much so appreciate if you could input some idea no matter how good or bad as to what I do with these, thank you very much-
If it helps you any the "zener cards" had the following symbols.... a star, a circle, a square, 3 wavy lines, and a cross/ plus sign, again. thanks Click here to view attached image. |

I've never seen the, but my guess is that it is a trick with the punchline being "the cards all have lines!" when you obviously fail to determine the specific symbols...and then turn them over or reveal in some way and it in fact does have "LINES."
Just a guess. Maybe you can invent a method to use that kind of patter.

You would, I would guess, force the lines card from the ESP packet, then after some missed guesses and fumbling, swap it out for the other packet and spell out L.I.N.E.S.

I'm aware of two effects similar to this, where you end up with a prediction spelled out of the ESP card selection. Stephen Tucker had one in the eighties, and Aldo Colombini also marketed one, so it might be worth checking out his web site; it might still be available. I seem to recall one of these versions also appeared in Apocalypse magazine, but I don't have the time to flip through several thousand pages for you.
