What do you mean? Are you asking who originated this?

As far as I know Jeff Davis based this on an idea from Gunther Puchinger. Jeff Davis got rights and permission from Gunther to build this. Jeff made some changes was the creator and the first to build this version. Tilford obtained an exclusive from Davis and has been the only dealer to advertise this since it's inception.
When Davis quit building, I believe Viking made a few models of this for Tilford. Recently my company made a deal with Tilford to build and supply the illusion. We have since made changes and improvements on it. Tilford has advertised this illusion in every major magazine for over 10 years. Its obtainable only from us if bought direct from Tilford. I can say from experience its more of a puzzle than magic, but its one heck of puzzle the just where the girl is has baffled many magicians due to ingenious construction of the prop. The running of the rods thru the sides of the cabinet, totally confuse any audience and seems to eliminate any hiding place. When I can only do one illusion and I positively have to fool them badly, Tubed out is my number one choice. I love this illusion. The cool thing is that the is one of the few illusions where you can invite an audience member to totally examine it before doing it. You can even have an audience member on stage assist you in holding the cabinet while the tubes are going it and they won't have a clue to where the girl goes. Never fells to fool an audience. Always gets STRONG reaction. This is the one illusion I recommend more than any other for a knockout effect that will fit in the back seat of your car. |

You have to be kidding if you think Jeff Davis got the "rights and permission" from anyone to build any illusion. He doesn't believe anyone once the illusion is performed in the public arena maintains any "proprietary" rights. In fact, he was writing a book about it at one time. If you ever mentioned this to him he went off on a litany of how the other manufacturers conspired to restrict his ads and sales.
Jeff is a great guy and good builder (would take over a year to finish props sometimes), but I guarentee he never "got the rights" to Tubed Out. |
