Actually I think Terry has performed this illusion more than anyone else. As I remember he bought his from Kirby Van Birch at least 25 years ago or more. I was working with his show at the time so, I know the prop inside and out. It was an Owen Magic Supreme prop ... pretty simple over all. Yes, it leaked back then ... and I'm sure it leaks now!
Not the most practical illusion .. and believe me, we traveled with it! Steve |

Your probably right Steve! He was showing me the prop a early last year and it had plastic wrapped around it trying to contain a leak. lol

It's amazing that he still has that thing running ... that's the best trick of all in his show!

I own a Water Levitation. The prop was build by Bill Smith. I am not using it right now and would be willing to sell it. It also has the revolving feature built in. PM me for more info.

Oliver the inspiration for the girl floating above the seashell may have come from Thurston, in some of his photos of the water act shows a girl "floating" above a seashell.

In the Olson book on the life of Howard Thurston he describes one of the illusions in the fountain act as a lady floating over a fountain of water. Hmmmmm.
As far as the 360 deg. unless Dani is using the same mech.and methodology that is proprietary and licensed by Jonathan (and you would only know if you saw it), the 360 revolve is not, and was written up in the Nov. 1961 Genii magazine as "Siros Revolving Suspension". I believe Hades also sells the plans for this (or did). Blair

The Siros Revolving suspension was a Suspension (Not a levitation) using a Super X (Not an Aga table) and when the girl revolved she went away from the Magician and didn't stay close to the magicians body as in the Pendragons version. The Dani Lary version is like the Pendragons version and not like the Siros Revolving suspension! The Aga table btw is credited to Alan Wakeling, first used by Mark Wilson. |

Just to be clear for everyone, the "aga table" you are referring to in this instance is the platform above the stage (approx 6') like in the Copperfield, Henning, Wilson et al. which is usually reached by a set of stairs.
(Why the clarifictaion? Any table used for an aga levitation could be called an "aga table" whether below stage, or behind curtain.) I'm actually not sure if Thurston used an aga mechanism for his "fountain" floating, but the table of fountains was raised above the stage. In photos it really does look like what we know or call the water levitation. Blair

Hi Blair,
You can even see it on film. Go to you tube and search for magician Howard Thurston and look for the very last part on this film ! |

Hi John,
Many thanks for that reference. I forgot I had also seen it there. For those that want a look-see here is the link.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6f4a2l_w3Y at 4:16 it appears in the background. Not only does the girl seem to float above a set of fountains, she is revolving within the fountains and above. Blair
