Hey John,
I live at Bathurst and Lawrence, Toronto. How do I get there from here?
If you're reading this you're my favourite magician.

It's easy. Babbacombe is the dead centre of England!
Hi John, hope you are well buddy. Say hello to Gary and Chris for me. I wish I could get down there for a couple of days. Is the "hands on" workshop anything like the "happy finish" that I get from my local massage parlour? |

Highly recommended! I was fortunate to peruse John C's notes. All top notch material. Great magic from a creative, insightful mind.

We maybe up in your area in November so get those cold beers ready mate! John's lecture will be full of real good commercial card magic, having seshed and gigged with John on many occasions, I've witnessed these effects in the real world, you will not be disappointed. All the best, Gary Jones.

The Devon Way... doesn't that involve custard!
I understand that John has asked some of his close friends (Gary, Chris & James etc) to do some performance pieces. Should be a really good night. I believe the plan is to have a quiet pint to start the evening... followed by 10 loud and messy ones. Bubble |

If you can get to Johns lecture it would be great, John has some excellent and commercial card stuff. I'll be doing a spot along with James Brown and Chris Congreave so it will be a night full of variety. Gary Jones.

John is great guy. Looking forward to this! I would advise not using the name James Brown too much here as it might get the thread locked or deleted!
Gary - Will you be doing your new 3 fly routine on Wednesday? Bubble |

A big thank you to Trevor Stone and the riviera circle of magicians for their warmth and hospitality at my lecture yesterday.
I have not had so much fun in ages. Best John |

For those who didn't make it..........The day started about 1pm with a few of us meeting up in the pub next to the venue, myself, John Carey, Chris Williams, Chris Congreave, James Brown, Ozzy D, Paul Hyland, Jenna, and Trev Stone. The session got bigger so we moved to the venue bar, by 5pm there were about 15 of us and the cards and coins were flying everywhere (and James Brown stealing just about anything from just about anyone who was in his range, watches, phones well you name it, he stole it, awesome stuff). By 7pm about 40 magicians were in the bar all showing and sharing magic, the atmosphere was buzzing and Mr Brown was still stealing stuff but now he'd move on the the lay people (even in the blooming car park in the rain, there's just no stopping him when he's in full flight!). We all moved up to the lecture room for John's lecture. If you know John you will know that he's very laid back, and he was lecturing to the most laid back magic club in the UK. John's magic is very slick and aimed at the worker, every effect is short and very direct, no messing around with long winded presentations, just solid and commercial and easy magic. John is also a very slick coin worker, his one coin routine is just perfect for walk-around and is also a great opener. I will post a full trick for trick review of John's lecture in a couple of days time. After the lecture came performances from myself (Thoughts and Think of Two Cards), Chris Congreave (CC Pickpocket from our new DVD), James Brown (Caught Three Times from Mind Blasters), and Trev Stone (cups and balls like you've never seen before). At about 1.30am Jonathan Chase (one of the UK's leading hypnotists) did an instant induction on Chris Williams, what followed was one of the funniest things I've ever seen (hi Chris or is it Annabel ). I've only touched the surface of what went on that night, I do know that when James Brown left he pulled up to a petrol station and stole the pumps, air and water machine, till and all the sweets from the counter, Chris Williams is dressing in woman's clothing (hi Annabel), Chris Congreave is now taking elocution lessons (only 2,045 lessons left to go mate), and John Carey is now just sipping a long cold lager, FOR HIS BREAKFAST ). Great time guys, not long till the next one! All the best, Gary Jones. Sounds like you had a blast John, are you lecturing in Yorkshire? Would love to see you. Dot. |
