So Bill (or anyone), what can you tell us about the 13 cup sets (in one group) up on eBay right now. I see two engraved sets, some copper, aluminum, etc. Anything really noteworthy?

There were some cups in there that I have never seen before. You will see them "you know where," as soon as I have a chance to photograph them.

They were part of the Jay Marshall Collection. Auctioned at the Galt House hotel in Louisville earlier today. The auction was simulcast on eBay as well.
There's not much of a description in the listing. I'd be interested if anyone else knows any specifics about the cups....just out of curiousity. Mike |

I was eyeing the 2 sets of Miller Cups. I just wanted the Nickel set. Any idea where they went Bill?

Congratulations, may I ask what they went for? I forgot to keep my eye on them. I need another set of cups like I need a hole in the head, but the nickel plated ones intrigued me.

I am really curious about one particular set of the 13 sets. They are in the second photo....back row..far left end. They are brass, with some engraving around the cup that is barely visible in the photo. I have an exact set of these brass cups, with exactly the same engraving. I have had them for years in my collection, without ever knowing the origin. ANy ideas, anyone ?
Thanks, Clyde |

Are the ones with the Asian writing on them potting plants by chance? They look like it.

I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

Hi Guys;
Hey, Hayre! I know about the engraved brass ones. I am familiar with the stuff in Jay's place. Very. Those cups are the same brass you find made into cheap arabian style lamps and such. Jay collected such brass (and how) and these were from the same sources, various. I'm pretty sure there were more than one set as well. They are not Paul Fox nor anybody's, though they don't look far off. This was made clear to me. Good news then, you might run accross one or two of these in your garage sales, probably where Jay got them, bless his tight little heart. P |

If anyone knows what those brass cups are, please let me know. I would like to identify them correctly.
I think the large plastic pots were adapted flowerpots.

From Hayre - the other owner of a set of the engraved brass cups.... the brass is heavy, and the cups are well spun. I got mine at a magic flea market in Tulsa 10 years ago....this is purely speculation, but they may have belonged to a magician named Sandy at one time. The balls (which mean little) were an expensive set of Ken Brooke balls (red/blue) with matching load balls. At the time, I paid $125, and thought it was a bargain. I showed them to Mike B. (early RNT2) to make sure they weren't some version of old Monti cups associated with him. He said they were not, and although he said the rims were spun too tighly to give a loud ring...other than that, he thought they were nicely done.
I doubt these were found cups. Too clsoe to Monti design. |

I'll be putting them on site tonight, I hope. I got delayed in my photography by a series of rather odd events. Not all of these will be going into the museum. I have four sets of duplicates, maybe more, that I will be using for trade, etc.
Some are already spoken for.
