There have been some hoaxes in the last week or so that he died but this time it appears that it is real...
(CNN) -- Comic actor Bernie Mac died early Saturday of complications from pneumonia, according to a family member and his publicist. He was 50. He had been hospitalized in Chicago, Illinois, for more than a week with the lung infection. Danica Smith, the comedian's publicist, had said Thursday that Mac's condition was "stable," The Associated Press reported. "When I got the call this morning, it was just devastating news," said Chicago Sun-Times columnist Stella Foster. "Let's face it: Bernie Mac was one of a kind. He was the best of the best in terms of giving you a good laugh." Smith previously said the pneumonia wasn't related to sarcoidosis, a lung disease Mac had, which had been in remission since 2005, according to AP. |

Man...bummer! I knew it the other day when I read in the paper that he was in the hospital with Pnemonia...
May he rest in peace. I liked B. Mac and have been a fan for many years. I loved his show too, But I will say that the last two seasons I started to notice his eyes were doing something strange?! I also got a bad vibe about John Ritter before he died. He just didn't look right. |

Sad news. Bernie Mac was a Class Act all the way. I always got a good laugh from him, and I always felt like his humor was good-natured fun.
Rest in peace, Bernie. Don
Woke up.

Funny...I met him a few years ago. He said he always wondered what laughter in the heavens sounded like. Hopefully we'll soon find out.
Your choices in life can be compared to watching a magic trick: You can continue to believe the illusion in front of you, find the intrigue and desire to learn more, or quit paying attention the moment you feel deceived.

Something Doug and I can agree on. His humanity shone through all of his work. RIP.

Jack I'm sure there's plenty more. Left/right takes up about 3% of my thought patterns and usually only when either here or watching the news and that 3% is more than likely being entertained by the differences when I'm bored with everything else that really matters.
Bernie dug deep...when allowed. He would have made a GREAT Uncle.

Bernie Mac’s comedy transcended all barriers and boundaries, truly a loss for all. He was the kind of person you didn’t just want to watch, but invite over for dinner with the rest of your friends.
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.

Bernie was incredibly funny.
I've got a story. I decided to show a few Bernie Mac videos to one of my classes. I had watched them the night before, and I just figured they'd be a perfect way to lighten up the end of a class session. Lo and behold, not one of my students could understand ANYTHING. I guess that the African American dialect isn't yet standard curriculum for European classrooms. Too bad. They're missing out on a hell of a lot. |

Bernie was a fan of magic as well. He used to come into Chuck's House of Magic in Chicago's south suburbs and pick up some tricks from time to time.
