The Bunny outline is my doings. The first half of the week two of the "break-out" rooms were being used by a Conference of Homicidal Detectives. They all were "hard-faced" Cops, that seemed to forget laughter is proven medically helpful.

So I taped an outline on the rug, "Who Killed Roger Rabbit?" and a Yellow Magic Zone caution tape around it. The KIDabra people thought it was funny, but the Detectives never cracked a smile.

"Oh-Well" I guest their "blood-pressure" will be high in the future. They do need to get a little humor in their lives.

Curiously, I was one of those guys. In fact, the day I arrived the author of one of the leading forensic investigative text books was there lecturing and signing an updated version of his book...the book that was used in my training program years back. It was a pleasure to talk to him.

My sense of humor got me into more than a bit of trouble, but it also kept me and my team sane through the long hours and the crap we witnessed. Still, I was surprised that they refused to enjoy the humor of the rabbit death scene. When you literally feel your faith in humanity slipping away and let this stuff get under your skin, it's time to transfer or retire...as I did in '92 after 22 years on the job.

Hehe Dennis and I could not stop laughing while we did it.

Having fun is what it is all about, and we did.

Cheers,

I hear ya! When I got in to law enforcement, it took me about three years to start losing my faith in humanity and unfortunately 13 years before I realized it and retired!

Cops generally have a unique, somewhat twisted sense of humor. It's developed as a defense mechanism because of the many terrible things they see on a daily basis. Having walked in their shoes, I can understand why they reacted the way they did, but deep down, I think they probably appreciated the humor as well. ...I know I thought it was great!

A couple of Cops and a Firefighter, KIDabra Members, and Children Entertainers....Hmmmm, we seek laughter to off-set the years, of trauma we witnessed.

Smile I always thought that it was a natural regression back to a gentler, less violent time! Although...I do miss those occasional "Taking the bad mood out on some loathsome skell" days. Smile

I'll complete the set for you Dennis...

Our buddy Marty Hahne of Dazzling Magic, when he lived here in Florida, he was an EMT!

Looks like it's covered no matter what jumps off at a KIDabra conference! LOL!

Dollywood has been rated a top anusement park food destination for years, and it is in Pigeon Forge, Tn. They say that a slice of Dollies apple pie will feed three people, but in your case maybe only two people.

Wow a cop with a sense of humor, whoda thunk it.

LOL! You know, as many times as the wife and I have visited Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg, we have NEVER been to Dollywood... But now with this new information about pie, I may have to check it out! Smile

In my book, pie slices only come in four sizes, small, medium, large, and Lyndel! Smile

To be honest with you my friend. Dolly's french fries are unforgetable, and you may have to stand in line for hours to try her chicken. I have no life, and I watch the food chanel all the time.

Tell me a cop joke.

Thank you. I had an argument with some republican magicians at that OTHER place so I had to come back.

I must say that I would never have guessed that you were in law enforcement. I'll bet that like me you never fit in at your first career. I can't tell you how many reviews I got that said "Al is not serious enough to go very far in engineering" boy were they right. LOL

HA! It was kind of expected of me to be a cop... I was of course moonlighting doing magic at the same time I was in law enforcement, but when I was "on the job" I was strictly business. Then, two hours later, I would be on some stage making people laugh. It was my Yin & Yang I guess. Like I said though, it was kind of expected of me... My whole family was involved in police work. See:
http://lyndel.net/temporary_stuff/copfamily.htm That's me on the far right, a lot of years, and a lot of doughnuts ago! Smile

Nice Lyndel, a cop family. Here is a photo of my Firefighting Family and the cop: http://www.Dowhy.com. There is also a newspaper article but I can't find that.

I hardly recognized either Lyndel, or Dennis. As Lyndel said those pictures were a lot of doughnuts ago.

Maybe that was the problem. Had they just been Homicide Dectectives they would have laughed. But not Homicidal!
