This is why most of the real pros hide under and alias on here or over on Genii forum, because of the attacks on those who have nothing better to do than post online. There is a known 'jerk-list' among the pros and they know who the real jerks are online. One said, "It's a funny thing about the internet and so-called social networks in general that the most vocal members tend to be perceived as more "important" or somehow more "authoritative" than others. This, however, is far from the truth. It's easy to imagine that some of the less socially skilled members seem to have nothing better to do than spend inordinate amounts of time on the forums and as a result, their post frequency is quite high. This doesn't make them any more credible or even noteworthy in any sense of the word. They are, quite simply, loud mouthed agitators" "You get to the point at which you don't feel much like arguing, especially when the matter being handled is cut-and-dry, i.e., an obvious departure from either the published standards of conduct or just a matter of common decency. Who wants to tell a combative, middle aged adult that they should not browbeat a 12 year old with disgusting, pool-hall language only to be subsequently called to task to "defend their decision"?" ...It's sure not the the 11 year olds. |

The kid is 11 years old, for crying out loud! Cut him some slack! _MB_, you are absolutely correct that jealousy and envy are the REAL motivators here. People are ticked off the kid's parents have money and they're taking it out by tearing apart his performances. Sad. Very, very sad, not to mention infantile. To my knowledge there's no rule that says you have to suffer to become an illusionist.

Envy and jealousy put aside: I like the analogy of the kid that hasn´t even a driver´s license and you give him a new Lamborghini to practice with.
If I had a kid that would seem to be a talented driver, I might take him to the next Go-Cart club and not buy him a Lamborghini. He wouldn´t know how to handle it... My fifty cent... |

Maybe his parents don't necessarily "have money", but they could be, like many parents, willing to spend money on their child that they COULD have spent on themselves. Maybe the expenditures are somewhat "misguided", but the father is probably getting as much satisfaction from the experience as his son.
I know we do the same thing - gymnastics, piano lessons, church camps, gymnastics camps, quality musical instruments, etc. We do this for our children because our parents did it for us. Some probably do it because their parents wanted to do it for them, but couldn't. I specifically mentioned QUALITY musical instruments, because this is closest to the "tools" of magic this child has been provided. One of my children is a talented musician, and she is always willing to play for various groups when asked. If she is going to dedicate her time to practicing and improving herself, I am going to make sure she has the best "tools" I can afford to help her succeed.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

This thread is about One Very Lucky Kid, by all accounts of Criss Angel's beginings, he also fits in this category.
