Allan Slaight is the editor of the three largest books in magic: Stewart James in Print The First Fifty Years, and The James File Vol I &II. He has had a passion for magic that spans over seven decades.
When you compliment him on his accomplishments, he's fond of saying "It's no bid deal." Magicana recently decided to put a stop to that. On August 17th at the 31 Faces North convention, a group of Slaight fans presented him with a unique gift. Spins & Needles: The Magic of Allan Slaight. Working secretly with designer Michael Albright (who did the layout and design for the new REVELATION) and members of Slaight's family, Magicana pulled together 62 of Mr. Slaights magical creations, some of which have never seen print before. In addition, the 189 page 10x10 hardcover book contains an introduction by Patrick Watson, foreword by Max Maven, and a biographical profile by David Ben. Bonus material includes Slaight's convocation address to the Ryerson University graduating class of 2000 and Michael Close's satirical piece "Unmasking Stewart James". The book will be available directly from the publisher at http://www.magicana.com or from your local magic shop. |
