Well I know this is not really magic or bizarre, but it could be...
I have been researching Absinthe as of late and found a small US Distillery in CO. that has embarked on making small batch Absinthe.
I had been in contact with them and finally was able to procure it at an almost local BevMo. I love the stuff and the ritual of preparing and drinking it, so I am hunting the Green Fairy.
Here is a link

The next part is a proposition. I would like to start a meeting group in Los Angeles to discuss Bizarre Magick, drink absinthe and just have a good ol time. I am a special make up effects artist by trade and a bizarre musician and performer. If any one is interested let me know.

Ah Curator, good links. I just took a peek, and I'll explore the further tonight.

Ralis, I am in LA from time to time. Perhaps I'll try to time my trips to coincide with your little get-togethers.
Beware of this and that.

Someone tried to start up a Los Angeles Bizarre Meet a while back, you might pull up the thread and pm them this link. It fell through but I know there are still others interested.

I'm right down the road from Horrorwood and this would be awesome.

This could be a great artistic adventure, I have a ton of ideas.

Set a date and I'll be there.

And, if you're up here in San Francisco, well you know where you can find me Smile

Same thing goes for you to Curator and Baba....hell everybody!

Shame you guys aren't in london - I'd take you all to the ripper pub, The Ten Bells and we could all drink some absinthe...

the only draw back is, they don't do the whole ritual...
I've asked to be banned

Hopefully Baba has headed inland to high ground with a box of cigars and a bottle of absinthe.

It's costly as all get out but the Jade line of absinthes from Liquers de France (google it) is amazing. Me, I like the Edouard even if I spelled it wrong.

There is another small batch distillery in Oregon that's coming out with an absinthe plus another noted scotch producer (I forget which) is also busting out the fairy soon. So good things are on the US horizon that will squelch the vile Lucid (incomprehendingly designed by T.A. Breaux, the same man who makes those exquisite Jades.)

Ralis, if you could just see your way clear have your little meeting in OHIO...

The one from Oregon is called Trillium:

I haven't tried it, but I did pick up a bottle of something called Le Tourment Vert. Have to say I wasn't all that impressed with it. It was very sweet--apparently some absinthe makers sweeten product.

Marilyn Manson has developed his own brand in conjunction with a Swiss distiller.

Didn't Manson's gorgeous wife leave him over his absinthe 'problem?'
Eh, actually I don't care if she did.
I make my own from an old recipe.
There is an old Viking named Papa Thor at the Gig Harbor renaissance festival who makes the most potent absinthe I know of. He uses some sort of very dangerous extract that he buys at a Canadian drug store and brings back into the US.

LaFee is really really good though. It's my main one for commercial absinthe.

I worked for Manson for 6 plus years off and on, he gave me my first sip of Absinthe and yeah so what if it was only 11 am!

I am going to India on the 9th and will be returning on the 21st. I am thinking of of a Bizarre Gathering in November as my October is booked solid. An informal get together at my loft downtown with some discussion, perhaps demonstration, a sharing and some Absinthe

I PM'd Charles from the Los Angeles Bizarrists Unite post and he and I actually met before through my previous employer. He and I are both fans of the Grande Guignol!
here is the latest, after arriving in India I read the script and found it has two decapitations, impalings, dismemberment, arrow attacks and spear skewering. I have been asked to create these effects for the film so I will be here for some time, as of right now I will be here until December and off to Thailand in January with a return to India after that. That means a few thing it will be longer until I can arrange a Bizarre Gathering in Los Angeles but I can plan it better your help. I can also afford more Absinthe thanks to the added work! Please get in touch and help me make this happen.
