If you saw my music collection you'd understand why I need your help with this. Trust me it's pretty sad.
I'm looking for something to play as I perform an effect. I'd like an instrumental piece that's slower/quieter and suggests a sentimental/nostalgic kind of mood. I'm performing the Dinamo Spot Card effect which goes along with a poem which describes my grandfather teaching me my first magic trick (the Dinamo Spot Card). The piece ends with me doing the Snow Leopard Vest quick change. Thanks for any help that you can give me with this. jeff ps. The Snow Leopard Vest from Lee Alex is a great item that looks professional and will last a long long time. |

I would suggest a slow sentimental ragtime song from Scott Joplin. Perhaps "Solace" which would convey a sense of nostalgia.

You might want to pick up Nathan Roberts' Magitunes at http://www.nathanjroberts.net/magic.html. Also you might want to check out Thomas Clark at http://www.magicsax.com/store/page13/page13.html. Both these guys have some great music that you can put in your show. If you have never this is a both these guys are a great place to start your collection on music you can use.

Losander has a couple royalty free, instrumental only, cd's on his site. You might ask him which one he would suggest.

You might want to try out I-Tunes. Just open I-Tunes on your computer and go to the I-Tunes store. Do a search for Royalty Free Music and you will get a ton of hits. You can listen to thirty second samples of each song and decide what will work for you. Some of the selections are rather "thin" sounding but then again, most royalty free music is. If you don't have I-tunes don't worry, it's a free download from apple.

I second Arthur Stead. He has several music samples on his website, and he would also be happy to recommend a perfect choice for you, based on what you told him you need. I told him what I was looking for (music for a levitation) and he made two great recommendations. The one I am now using is PERFECT and I couldn't imagine another song matching the effect as well as his did.
So go to http://www.arthurstead.com, you will be happy with what you find. Alan |

After putting years in radio broadcasting, I have a huge library of CDs and vinyl lps. I often found in my production work that soundtracks from high impacting movies contained themes which evoked the sentiments portrayed on the screen. TV commercial producers also tap into this. My first thought was an instrumental version of "What A Wonderful World," (Good Morning Vietnam.), used by Raymond Crowe recently in his "Shadows" routine. However, I would HIGHLY recommend Dave Grusin's theme from "On Golden Pond," available on his "Collection CD." It runs 3:37, but can be edited or lengthened depending on your need. Also "Epilogue" from "The Little Drummer Girl" from Grusin's Cinemagic" is a heart tugger.
John Williams and John Barry are two other soundtrack composers whose themes are indelibly imprinted into our collective conscious. It's almost Pavlonian how replaying an old movie theme can instantly bring out the original emotional response. Good luck! |

Have you tried Richard Allen's "Music Magic" cd? For me, that's the best one in my entire collection.

I will share “MY OPINION & Experience” though I’m sure some will not “like it”, but that is the nature of sharing one’s opinions & experiences here I guess sometimes, eh’?
Steve Saunders's Magi-Tracks and Arthur Stead's music “kick the best serious, professional music butt” based on all the ones I have heard and I have all of them, even the ol "Vienna Magic" series... Did you know that Rand Woodberry even had some music for sale at one time… http://www.MagiTracks.com Anyway, Steve & Arthur have each got that 'something' that the others do not seam to have. I don’t make a penny either way and I have paid full price for everything I have ever used! I have nothing to gain by saying anything! (and somethig to loose because I will likely get trashed by those with other opinions… hehehehe!) I guess we get to agree to disagree agreeably… I HOPE.
