Bruce,
McDonald's Aces cards are typically included in gaffed decks, available at your local magic shop. Or try cardsbymartin.com Tom Frame |

Those cards are the first ones that I created after receiving "The Art Of Card Splitting" DVD by Marty Grams (martini). Tomcards gave you some excellent advice if you can't make your own gaffs. Good luck!

Just buy any double face "bicycle" deck. There is set included in that and you have around 50 other cards to do fusion effects or so.

The effects on the DVD and lecture notes are far beyond your abilities. (They require mastery of the mechanic's grip.) It would only break your heart. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz.......(This post has got to be in my top 5.) |

It is somewhat rediculous to buy custom split DF cards when a DF deck has many cards you can use. You can do the same trick with Queens, Jacks, Kings, and others, not always Aces. Look at what a great version Ricky Jay uses with Queens.

Yup, Ricky's version is great. Great performance. I like the way he gets into it with a display of different productions of the queens. His patter is also good. I believe he took it from "Queens Corterie"(or a similar name in Erdanse).
Good stuff.

Bob Kohler is re-releasing his version, Aces In Their Faces
http://www.fingerflingers.com has a clip from the Aces In Their Faces DVD. Scroll down a bit and click on the Aces In Their Faces banner and it will start playing. http://www.fingerflingers.com is going to be Bob's music instruction site, so don't worry about clicking on any of the magic links as the site is really just in a development stage. If interested in ordering, here's what Bob has said elsewhere in the Café: "The DVD will be released by Murphy's Magic Supplies Worldwide and will be in the stores by the end of October. If you want to be among the first to get it you can send $25.00 to my PayPal account at: bobkohler@cox.net and we'll cover the shipping and ship you a copy on Oct. 9. "Hi Gang, The wait is finally over! I'm leaving for England tomorrow to perform close up and lecture at the International IBM Convention. Aces In Their Faces has been completely redone and is now an extremely comprehensive DVD. I"ll be showing the final routine at my lecture at the convention and at a lecture in Paris for Dominique Duvivier. The DVD has four complete shows that cover four different routines from the original Aces In Their Faces, through Aces In Their Minds which adds equivoque and an incredible new move, to Aces In Their Eyes which is done in the style of MacDonald's Aces but 1000 times more convincing because of the gaffs and some eye-popping manipulation. The last routine is the one I perform most of the time. It's a two phase routine that combines Aces In Their Eyes and Aces In Their Minds. This is the killer. In fact it's a MacDonald's Aces killer. The vanish sequences are absolutely test conditions, visual as it gets. The first vanish sequence actually allows the spectators to handle the gaff. Very sneaky stuff. The two phases combine to cancel out any thought of gaffs and you get the credit for being an incredible sleight of hand artist. The good news is all of the routines are easy to do. The release contains the traditional Aces In Their Faces cards but they've been improved. The gaffs are now "pointer" cards on the faces which makes everything so much easier. There's is also a new included gaffed card that makes the reset for all of the routines instantaneous and simple to do. The training is intense. It's finally on DVD. Nothing is left out. Running time is 1 Hour, 34 minutes. Many shots are over the shoulder so that you see everything from your perspective. The only thing better would be to come to my house to learn the routine. The work is explained in "Building Blocks". All of the routines share the same set-up, opening sequences and reset. Once you learn these you're ready to do any of the routines at any time, Each routine has it's own strength and purpose. There is something here for everybody from new beginners to seasoned sleight of hand experts. The routines are great for magicians and even mentalists. All is revealed".

Just buy a double faced deck you normally get two sets in there. In fact why not change the card values and do it with 5's and call it a Bunch of 5's as in the UK this means to punch and well what a trick it is anyway it sure packs a punch!

Greetings;
I hope this is some help to those of you who do any version of McDonald's Aces. Depending on the version you are doing, and there are many out there, Almost all use 3 double face cards, an d then there are versions that use only 2 double facers, and I have seen some that only use a single double facer, so with that said, here is the breakdown in a standard deck of double face cards that you can purchase at any magic shop: Ace of Spades/4 of Hearts 2 cards Ace of Diamonds/7 of Hearts 2 cards Ace of Clubs/7 of Spades 2 cards Ace of Hearts/4 of Spades 2 cards 2 of Spades/3 of Hearts 2 cards 2 of Diamonds/9 of Clubs 2 cards 2 of Clubs/9 of Diamonds 2 cards 2 of Hearts/3 of Spades 2 cards 3 of Diamonds/8 of Clubs 2 cards 3 of Clubs/8 of Diamonds 2 cards 4 of Clubs/7 of Diamonds 2 cards 4 of Diamonds/7 of Clubs 2 cards 5 of Spades/Joker 2 cards 5 of Hearts/Guarantee Joker 2 cards 5 of Diamonds/6 of Clubs 2 cards 5 of Clubs/6 of Diamonds 2 cards 6 of Spades/Blank Back 2 cards 6 of Hearts/Blank Back 2 cards 8 of Spades/King of Hearts 2 cards 8 of Hearts/King of Spades 2 cards 9 of Spades/Queen of Hearts 2 cards 9 of Hearts/Queen of Spades 2 cards 10 of Spades/Jack of Hearts 2 cards 10 of Hearts/Jack of Spades 2 cards 10 of Diamonds/10 of Diamonds 1 card 10 of Clubs/10 of Clubs 1 card Jack of Diamonds/Jack of Diamonds 1 card Jack of Clubs/Jack of Clubs 1 card Queen of Diamonds/Queen of Diamonds 1 card Queen of Clubs/Queen of Clubs 1 card King of Diamonds/King of Diamonds 1 card King of Clubs/King of Clubs 1 card So from that, you get two sets of Aces for the standard McDonald's Aces, and you can also use other cards in the deck as Pete suggested above, and like I said earlier, depending on which version you are doing, you may not need three cards, only two different ones and in that case you can get many sets from a deck, just substitute the cards you will be using for the aces. I always suggest using factory printed cards whenever possible, but should you require or desire special combinations that are not readily available, then you can either make them yourself or have them made for you. Hope that has been of some help All the Best Marty |
