Do you feel that this is appropriate to use for a daycare show ages 3-5? I would like to add it to my show but not sure if it is a no-no with the needle.
Thankyou Steven |

I personally would not for many reasons. Also, you simply may not be allowed to. I would contact the school first to ask them what their rules and policies are. In many daycares (my wife works at one as a teacher), they do not allow latex or balloons due to allergies and also the possible choking hazord. Also, young children oftren get very afraid of popping sounds of balloons and so it may frighten more then it entertains. Hope this helps.

I've got to agree with all of those points. I now don't do any balloons for children below 7; and always check with parents first.
Additionally make sure you pick up all of the pieces after any balloons burst. Moms will love you for it and it does prevent any danger of choking.

Needle thru balloon for the 3 to 5 year old is out. You're bound to make one cry and in that age group crying is like the flu, everyone can catch it. I love the trick for 5 and up though!

Pre-School and below it is not a good idea. 5 and up is about where I start doing it for them. I do let them know I am going to pop a balloon just to see the reaction that I will get. If I see that it is going to scare someone I will not pop it at the end.

Lots of great points here. After reading them I now am rethinking another effect I was going to do. I was going to add Forgetful Frankie but with the balloon issuse I am going to go with another effect. I never really thought about the latex allergies when I was thinking about the needle either. Thank you all for your advice.

Could you do forgetful Freddy with a piece of thin paper or a cookie you could draw a face on?? Try experimenting. It's a great trick (better than needle through a balloon) and kids love the fact the 'pretend paper face' is vanished and the real one returned.
I've got Supreme's Sadie the Seal and I'm experimenting in using balloon substitutes as at times its so hot balloons just burst on their own
