Hey gang!
Some of you may have heard elsewhere on the Café' that I just released my new book "How To Produce Your Own Theater Show." I took the knowledge I have gained over the last 20 years producing shows in theaters and dinner theaters and put it in a book! This is a tight concise "report" styled publication in .pdf format, and has no theory, and no filler - just my real world experience. Chapters cover how to choose the right venue, union vs. non-union houses, casting a show, producing on a shoestring budget, and a chapter on high schools, hotels, & casinos. I even included a hypothetical breakdown of budgets and projected revenues. Further, some will say I'm crazy, but it's a living document. Everyone who purchases it will get an instant update everytime additions or revisions are made! As a matter of fact, the first major update went out just today. Also, I am adding everyone who purchases the book to the Theatrical Magic Newsletter which will cover some of the topics on a monthly basis. Right now, the price of the report is only $25. Many are already telling me I need to be charging far more for the information I cover. I am working on some wider distribution, but right now you can get the report at my website. Since I can not put a link directly in this message, you can see the URL in my signature feild. Thanks! |

A few reviews...
From Christopher Starr: John: Just a quick note to say how much I enjoyed your "How To Produce Your Own Theatre Show" booklet. All I can say is that Big Daddy Cool delivers the goods, offering the reader a clear, concise, no holds barred look into the real world of theatrical show promotion! Solid advice from a man who clearly knows how to get the show on the road. No theory, just your real world experience. Thanks for sharing this with the magic community. Chris From Robert Jones: Hey guy's I don't know who has this booklet out here or not...but I wanted to make a small post and say I for one highly recommend this book! John Pyka's "HOW TO PRODUCE YOUR OWN THEATER SHOW!" John has literally taken all the guesswork out of the how to's! John is an award winning Magician, Actor, Musician... When I say’s he knows his stuff, he really does! It’s like Deon Sanders … He was an awesome sports figure and when he talked the talk and walked the walk people HAD to respect him! The same is true here! John has been there and done that and now has written a book for us to follow as a guide and honestly make money for us! There is really no stone unturned, and the best part is if you find a question or a part that you need to have expanded on…he will! This is a continuous book, meaning that when he does have add on’s you get them free. Just keeping an eye on your E mail! I must say thank you John for doing my job for me! How To Produce Your Own Theater Show: is an e-book for $25.00 is an extension of the Theatrical Magic book:
Quote:
This guidebook picks up where Theatrical Magic left off. This report guides readers through a step by step process to produce a full evening theater show - from script, to venue negotiation, to the closing curtain. Theatrical Magic, The Book $40.00 includes $5.00 S&H I am impressed by the write up on this. Theatrical Magic Lecture Notes: Another eBook for $10.00. The notes are introduction to Theatrical Magic, as it walks readers through the purpose of magic as theater, and the creation of a character. The lecture notes also include 3 routines not available in the book. These 3 routines will demonstrate the principles of magic as theater in a easy to digest pieces. What are the three routines that are in the notes? After reading the information on your web site. I just sent in my payment for these three items. Thanks for letting me know these books, booklet, and notes exist. Dennis

The 3 routines are a Lie Detector Test, a great script for Pyro Perception, and a fun creativity exercise called The Drag Queen.

Posted: Oct 1, 2008 2:00pm Another great review of How To Produce Your Own Theater Show from Jeff Wampler... I just got John Pyka's (you may know him as "Big Daddy Cool") new ebook, "How To Produce Your Own Theater Show A Practical Step By Step Guide To Producing And Promoting Your Own Theater Show!" Before getting the book, I spoke with John and he said it was a small book packed with information..."no fluff or filler." He was right. John discusses 2 walling, 4 walling, and buyout deal arrangements. He talks about the different kinds of stages you may encounter. And he talks a great deal about funding and casting your show. For the novice in this field, the information is invaluable. John readily admits in his book that "the topic can be far more in depth than what I've laid out in this book." But it is an excellent resource to get started. And I think even seasoned professionals will leave the book with a new idea or use one of the invaluable resources. To put it in perspective, the $25 price tag is just a very small investment to what can be made in this field. I guess just like everything else in life, its not what you know, its what you do with what you know. This ebook is recommended, and if you have any desire to produce your own show and don't know where to start, it's highly recommended. -Jeff Wampler Posted: Oct 4, 2008 3:01pm Just got picked up by http://www.lybrary.com! |
