I've never found too many golf fans around here, but is anyone interested at all in the Ryder cup? These morning matches have been pretty exciting. Lots of back and forth.
The Americans have secured one point. They are leading two matches and are all square in another. The need a fast start to have a chance and so far they are getting it. Tons of golf to play yet though. Mickelson and Kim were down 2 or 3 holes at one point to Harrington/Karlsson but are now all square going into 18. That looks like it's been a GREAT match.

Every time I work the U.S. Open tennis, people tell me I should work for the U.S. Open golf. They say everybody is nicer and friendlier, but I'm just not into golf. The only golf I like is with a Frisbee! Disc golf, now that's cool!

I thought about working the Ryder Cup in Michigan a few years ago. But you have to PAY to volunteer. Is that the way it works for the U.S Open tennis?

I am a paid employee, so I don't know. Not only do they pay me, I also get a daily food allowence. I do know that the tennis has a lot of volunteers but I never heard any tof them say they had to pay? Wow, I thought magicians were the only suckers to pay to attend at an event of which they would be working?!

Ha!
Well it looks like the Americans are getting that fast start they hoped for. They are up 2-1/2 to 1/2 and leading the final morning match going into 18.

Vandy,
Yes it does cost to volunteer for the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. You do get a lot neat perks for doing it and you wont be treated like hired help either. Weather we win or lose, I think the right captain and players were picked this time, at least on our side. Go Boo Go!
Our friends don't have to agree with me about everything and some that I hold very dear don't have to agree about anything, except where we are going to meet them for dinner.

I agree with the Azinger pick for Captain. So far he's looking like a genius.
I actually probably would have paid to work the Ryder cup, but it was in Michigan and that would have brought on a lot of additional expense. I should have looked into the PGA or the Senior US Open when they were at Whistling Straits, that's right in my backyard. Thanks to the winter Olympics in Vancouver, Whistling Straits gets the PGA again in 2010. Maybe I'll look into that. Have you worked those types of events? P.S. Americans came out of the morning matches with a 3-1 lead. Two of the afternoon matches are currently all square and each team is leading one of the other two matches.

Vandy,
I hand some friends that volunteer for the 2006 Senior PGA Championship when it was played at Oak Tree in Edmond, Oklahoma and it was no cost to them. They still talk about what a great time they had. I think most of the Senior tournaments are that way.

I've attended PGA events and I marvel at the skill level of those guys. I'd like to work one someday. It would be nice to get inside the ropes.

Don't forget the LPGA either, those girls have game and are a lot prettier. My son and I were at LPGA SemGroup Championship at Cedar Ridge Golf Club in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma when Paula Creamer won. It was great golf, and what a playoff. I wish I could play at least as good as the worst player on the LPGA tour.

Oh I'm not forgetting the LPGA. Not only could each and eveyone of them kill me on the the course, a lot of they are pretty easy on the eyes.
I had to go back to a golf course cause I lost a head cover, they were holding a Futures Tour event, which is like the junior tour to the LPGA. I think I feel in love three times just walking past the practice range.

The U.S.A. wins the Ryder Cup in a hard fought battle. Golf is still a sport where sportsmanship, respect and admiration for ones opponents are evident and great shots are cheered by the spectators and players alike, no matter which side makes them.
Golf is such a simple game yet so humbling and is a love hate relationship most including me, because you know the out come, is yours and yours alone and there are no excuses for a bad shot and nothing more exhilarating than making a great one. My hat is off to both Europe and the U.S. for make this Ryder Cup weekend so exciting and enjoyable.

This Ryder Cup was among the top two or three golf tournaments I have ever watched!
I have a friend who played on the 1993 Ryder Cup team as well as on the 1994 President's Cup team. It's cool to see all of his memorabilia from these two tournaments and to hear his stories. It's also fun to watch a tournament on TV with him and listen to him predict what the various golfers will do on individual shots or in specific situations.

How 'bout them Cowboys!
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

I played yesterday with two friends and I had the lowest score 30 over par! My tee shots killed me, hit only two green in regulation, my putting was just ok with 1, one putt, 1 four putt, 2 three putts and 14 two putts. That should be an indication of how bad we are, but we all had a great time.

It was a great Rydr Cup. Very fun to watch, it really could have gone either way for a while there. Hopefully now there will be a better balcance and the matches won't be decided before they even get to singles like they have in the recent past.
