What will be your fee if a true millionaire called you to perform a twenty minute illusion act in a theatre for his daugther's Sweet 16th birthday party? Imagine the performance will be half way around the world from where you are located.

Hey Mike,
Honestly, you should just add up EVERY expense that you can imagine and ask what you want for your time. Remember, if you are gone for lets say a week, also add in the shows that you would make money from at home if you didn't go...thats one way to look at it.... Another way is to just shoot for the stars - if someone is keen on YOU and ONLY YOU, but you are hesitant to do it - throw out a price and hope he says yes. I can tell you this, not many people here will give you a numbered price.... Last year I did something similar to this and let me tell you Freight for shipping illusions from A to B is expensive....make sure all your illusions are properly cased too. I went to Greece last year to do some work and ended up ATA casing all of my stuff (that wasn't already) I built that into the budget just to ensure that my stuff is safe. I would really take the time and map out everything so that you don't sell yourself short. |

I have experienced this already. My crew and I travelled in his personal jet plane and my props in a cargo plane. I charged him for a full day of shows.

My normal fee plus expenses (Including shipping of equipment, travel, room, board, and ground transportation for myself and any assistants). The wealth of the client should not matter.

A friend of mine in vegas was called to do a birthday party show from an agent. The pay I believe was fair, anyhow my friend shows up to do it and it turns out to be a birthday party for Blanket.................Michael Jacksons son..
He performed the show for Michael and his gang and they loved each trick..My friend said that if he new it was going to be for MJ he woulda really brought his A material and charged more I'm sure. Goes to show that even if you are booking a lousy B day show you better Rock,,,,,,, My friends name is Dixie Dooley, He very rarely does a show of this nature, he performs larger comedy and illusion shows. The client's disposition has NOTHING to do with it. My show is my show and I bill the same to everyone. I would simply bill my standard fee + expenses.
