Hi Everyone,

I recently saw The World Festival of Magic here in Brisbane Australia - absolutely amazing. The main illusionist, Michael ... (can't remember his last name) performed this illusion (similar to "The Transported Man" from the movie "The Prestige") where he was locked inside this box onstage & 4 spikes were about to stab into the box. The spikes eventually stabbed into the box & they opened the box & the illusionist had disappeared from the box only to reappear a second later in the very middle of the stadium behind us spectators - it was the greatest illusion I've ever seen - just wondering what the official name of this effect is called so I can research it some more.

Well, there's several effects like that. One that's just like that is called Bo-Staff.

Thanks mvmagic - that clip is absolutely amazing - it's like a double whammey (better than the live version I saw, having the girl appear inside the box & the bloke appear at the back of the stadium).

Bo-Staffs all look like that though each is individual in look. They are built by Roy Shank, though Bill Smith builds them too.
