I think everyone here has covered most of it.
I can personally testify that it has taken years to devolope my illusion show. years to perfect illusions with my assistant, timing issues with my light and sound techs not to mention if your a touring show as mine is then your on a different stage each night and let me very clear not all stages are created equal!! I carry my own lighting, curtains, sound, as well as the 2 tons of magic and illusions. it takes us 8 hours to set up our full stage illusion show. although I do have some smaller shows they still take 5-6 hours of set up then the 90 minute show or sometimes only 60minutes. Kyle -you remeber when we played kurts magic convention years ago. each of us only had a few things at the time and it styill took a bit of time to set up. fast forward to now and we both have grown. Hey Kyle you saw my show last year you can testify the magnitude of the show at the camp and they had NO curtains of any type so if I had not owned my own curtians, and sound it would have seriously hurt the show. I only mention this as illusions and the tricks really are second place importance to staging, lighting, music, curtians, etc. anyway the BIGGEST thing I can say is do not give up dreams do come true! but remeber magic is not what you buy it is what you do. on a side note of not speaking in the show I agree you need to learn theatre and mime. look at Jeff McBrides miser dream not one word but 6 minutes of MAGIC I will say that I am aware of one illusionist that has a show with no talking and it is about 50 minutes. Hans Klok however he also has aobut $400,000 (four hundred thousand dollars of illusions in the show not to mention all the other things like special effects. but he does not talk the whole show. he does however sing at one point. Kirby Van Birch also opens his show with almost 12 minutes of magic and illusions and not one word is spoken. Again in that short 12 minutes I saw $75,000 as well as several tigers and a balck panther. I would guess that 12 minute set cost over $150,000 just for that 12minutes. It was however very very entertaining. good luck. sam

Bry1513, I will be your load in and out crew. Back to the original post. How much experiance do you have in performing? How long have you been doing magic and how old are you? I think a lot of new comers, not saying you are a new comer, see a big show and want to do that right away. Back in 1979 I had a small 90 min show that I tried to tour with. I had 4 large scale illusions and the rest smaller stuff. Total non speaking time was around 20 mins. And that was a streatch. At the end of the year which was only about 6 months, I decided I needed to eat again so I stopped doing it and reworked my show into a smaller 45 min. act.
What I am saying is like the others have said, slow down and work your way up to a show like you want to put together. I am sure you are not getting the answers you were looking for with your post but take it from the ones here on the Café'. Most of them really did the school of hard knocks and their advice is right on. Let us know how it turns out for you. Steven |

I decided to talk and do a Original Illusions Show with talking. My show can cost me 20 000$ (or more!)
Thanks for all!

$20,00 for a full illusion show? My short 45 min. kids show cost me a little over $2500 and I have nothing bigger that a Mak Murder Inc. Dagger Head Chest. Also a Visible Sawing and a few other smaller props and supplies. I can put my whole show in my car. Gonna have to buy a truck and trailer for your illusion show. Sound equipment, backdrops, assistants, lighting. Goona be big costs but good luck and let us know how it is going and where you will be performing.
