I posted this question under another topic here, but there are no answers, possibly because the subject was not accurate. So here we go:
Does anyone have a specific source to get rubber bands to make a **gravity** flipper out of a Tango magnetic Kennedy half dollar flipper? I think we are talking about latex rubber bands used for orthodontic work. Which are available on e-bay, called either orthodontic or "Amber" latex elastic rubber bands and come in different sizes - to wit, 3/16", 1/4", and 5/16". So, if you say e-bay is the best source, then which size latex rubber bands are best (ie just the right tension) for gravity for Tango Kennedys? If you can give me a different source, I still would appreciate which size we are talking about. Thanks! By the way, if no one answers, then (sigh), I may purchase one of each size, do the experiment, and post here my findings. (I can find absolutely no answer to this specific question in any thread previously posted here on the Café.)

Send an email to Mr. Tango and buy some new bands from him.

Thanks for the suggestion but all I would get are orthodontic rubber bands of the same tension as the original - yielding a magnetic flipper not a gravity flopper. I know, based on PMs he and I just exchanged. I'm hoping someone out there has figured out which exact size orthodontic rubber band would yield a flopper, not a flipper.

Ok, I figured it out! It's 3/8 inch latex rubber bands used for dog grooming and cheaply available from eBay. I posted the exact method for replacement under Secret Sessions, in a thread with Joshua Jay's Invisible Coin Purse in the title.

I always used the Orthontic bands. I don't recall which size. Years ago I used to use them when I had braces and kept a few bags around. Unfortunately the bag doesn't say the size of the bands.
That office was the sorce of my bands as well as wax Id suggest if you don't want to purchase them, save some money on shipping and head down to the local orthodontics office. Cant hurt to ask. |
