Anyone else here plan on going to the SAM convention in buffalo next year?

I'm gonna start saving up now.

I hear that the SAM convention is great. Are there a lot of dealers?

Yes I will be there with my wife. I go every year as I am a life member and also active with the SYM activities and shows that go on. I look forward to seeing you Matt. If you have never been to a national convention, you will LOVE it. yes there are a LOT of dealers.

Kyle

PS: If you are close to Edison, NJ on November 18th I am doing a full lecture and workshop for Ring 200. I would love to have you come out. I think you would really enjoy it.

Gee Kyle, talk about self promotion. Smile Just kidding. I'm trying to make arrangements to come down to your lecture.

Matt, my wife and I have been registered for awhile. The Adams Mark hotel is great. You're close enough to Canada to take a side trip if you want besides going to the evening show with the group. Niagra falls is close as well.

Both the IBM and the SAM conventions are great. Lots of dealers, plenty of lectures, shows and things to do. Seating for the shows is based on when you register. The sooner you do so, the closer to the stage you'll be. At least they say that Smile

Don't forget to get your passport if you don't have one. Some say you'll need it to get to the show in Canada and others say you don't, but you want to be prepared just in case.

Keep an eye on this topic in the SAM forum for details as time goes by.

Is everything included, shows, lectures, and the buses to canada? I really want to go to see Greg Frewin.

I have a passport from my trip to alaska this year, I believe it is good for 10 years, so I am set for that.

I have to start saving up for this.

Kyle,

Edison is an hour and a half away from me. There is a local meeting I am going to go to that night, I have school the next morning, so I wont be able to go.

Hehehe Thanks Dave. Someone has to do it. =) I would love to see you there. If you do come out to the lecture, please make sure to stop by and say hello and such. It is always a pleasure.

It is indeed going to be a great trip. The day we go over to Canada to see the Greg Frewin show will be a real treat for sure.

Matt, Matt, yes everything is included with your registration. Lectures, dealers, shows, bus trip to Canada etc. If you want to go to the office installation banquet, it's an additional $55. Sometimes they have special events that have a fee when you get there but they aren't expensive.

The only other convention expense is the Hotel which is $109 per night plus tax. Afer the new year, keep an eye on the SAM web site and here because they usually update you on Hotel room availability. The Hotel usually sells out before convention time but you have lots of time to worry about that.

I am assuming you can book a room at another hotel?

Yes, you can if you want to, but we usually get good group discount rates on hotel rooms. Also, so much happens at the hotel and hardly anyone ever sleeps as there is always magic going on. Just something to think about. However, yes, you can get a room elsewhere if you wanted to.

Kyles right. You can stay anywhere you want but all the action will be at the Adam's Mark. Normally what happens is that when it gets close to convention time and hotel gets booked, messages will be sent out advising of alternate hotel rooms available. There isn't much sleep to be had as things are going on all the time but it's nice to have a place close to the action so you can come and go when you want and not miss anything.

That is why I stay at the convention hotel. It just makes things a bit easier and more convenient for me.

I have been at the IBM when it was at this same hotel. There are no other hotels really close to this one. So it would mean driving in and out and parking. As Kyle has pointed out, the late night sessions make it a little rough to get back to the hotel also.

I have not decided if I can make this year or not. I may just drive up for the day to see people. I can stay with a buddy in Buffalo.
