Hi all.
I bought "Misers D'lite" about a month ago. I have used it twice so far with great reactions. My last outing with it was on Halloweens, for a childrens party. My patter was all about how an !Event" happens only on Halloween night, and if they are very quiet, we turn the lights down, put my special music on, we shall see it happen.....they loved it. At this party, an adult that watched this liked it so much, he has invited me to do a show at there annual Christmas Dinner event. This is to be 23rd Nov. (bit early I thought). Anyway..... I have scripted a very theatrical sketch for my "Misers D'lite", being such a visual effect I thought it would be more fitting. To set the scene: Curtain up. On stage a park bench. To one side a Trash can. Music playing.Lights low. Old man/tramp hobbles onto stage carrying a bag, and using walking stick. Sits on bench. Places bag to his side. Looks around a little. Starts rumaging in the bin. Finds a half eaten sandwich. Takes a bite. Puts into bag for later. Picks up an old ciggy butt from the floor. Pats pockets for a light. Rumages in bin again. Looks dissapointed. Looks up to the heavens for assistance. His arm goes up and plucks his first light from the air. Looks up smiling. Lights ciggy. Looks around for somewhere to put his Magic light. Drops it into bag. Looks up again. Plucks another light from above. Drops it into bag.....etc. Now the assistance I need is this: The bag allows you 14 lights.. I have routined 6 believable appearances of said lights with byplay before going into the bag. I need another 8 ways of producing lights that fit with the routine!! NoT plucking from above all the time, too repetitive. Any ideas appreciated guys and girls.. Chris

You're starting from the wrong end. You want to produce 14 lights just because you can, not because it fits your routine. Be satisfied with the six lights and perhaps one or two more will occur to you, but if not, don't produce them just for the sake of "getting your money's worth" from the prop. It's not worth it if your audience is bored with repetitious stuff. It's like a Zombie or a Dancing Cane routine that goes on past the point of the audience's caring. I would spend more time thinking about what happens next... like the bag catches on fire, begins smoking and has to be extinguished, so the old man runs around looking for water, spilling it, etc. That would at least be entertaining.

Spellbinder,
thanks for your comments. Do you know the prop I am talking about? I talk about 14 lights because the prop has a circuitry that once set, it must finish its sequence of 14 lights. As for setting light to it...at £139.00 a go, I think not. If your not familiar with Misers D'lite, please go to Mark Masons site where there is a demo. Chris

I love it although what you already go a light for lighting the cigarette. So why would you get more lights if you don't need anymore. Perhaps you could somehow extinguish the cigarette. Then simultaniously grab a D'Lite from the cigarette. Giving the illusion of plucking the light out instead of smothering it out.
Then place that back into the bag. Only to relight the cigarette with the D'Lite somehow. Or secretly switch it for a flash cigarette first. Then light it into nothing. Then move into a phantom cigarette routine. In the routine after you produce the cigarette. You could explaine how smoking is bad for you if you are performing for children. Saying that you get smoke into your lungs and it is bad making you cough. Then cough moving into a smoke from nowhere routine. Such as Finn Johns routine with the smokey bubbles.

Good idea, Christo.
I say use the exact situation that the "adult" liked so much. Have a kid walk onstage, actor or spec, tell him/her the story of "Stars in the sky.." or "Do you want to become a Magician when you grow up?" or whatever is appropriate. Then proceed to pluck out the lights for him/her. Then with the bag, as a finale, make a Rabbit or Dove appear... Find a great song to accompany that and you have a winner... Imho...

Christo,
I'm wondering if there is a way to disable a few of those lights, maybe removing the LED bulb? and if you press the button twice on a couple of them it will fill the bag so the same amount of button presses garner the same results, with fewer lights actually lighting up. Maybe that will work?
