Okay, all you smarties out there.
Which countries make up North America? And once you've answered, read this: http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/trailhe......der.aspx
Make America Great Again! - Trump in 2020 ... "We're a capitalistic society. I go into business, I don't make it, I go bankrupt. They're not going to bail me out. I've been on welfare and food stamps. Did anyone help me? No." - Craig T. Nelson, actor.

The only one that counts is the U.S.A.
God bless America and no where else! I kid. I love Canada. It's like a little hat for the U.S. |

Geopolitically speaking that may be true. However, the North American Continent, by definition, is made up of three countries. Also, Greenland has the distinction of being the worlds largest island.

I grew up learning the UN definition, and it's the one I go with, personally.
After all, if the countries of Central America aren't part of North America, what continent are they a part of? They're not part of South America; Central America isn't a continent; and they're not islands. It's a matter of opinion until you look to some authority, and the UN seems to be the best authority available on the subject. |

It all depends on the context in which you refer to North America.
North America, the continent and the U.N. definition, has only 3 nations: Canada, USA, and Mexico North America, the region/continental plate, has 24 countries, as it includes what is often called Central America, the Caribbean islands, and Greenland (which is part of Denmark). If you exclude countries that are considered part of Europe, that brings it down to 23 countries. Quiz: How many countries of North America (whi......minutes? Just be glad you're not discussing Great Britain vs. United Kingdom vs. British Isles: |

Hey! I know the answer and I don't need to click on anything. The answer is Greenland to the North and Panama to the South, after Panama is South America. There is some confusion when people refer to the area South of Mexico as Central America but they are just trying to specify a region like Western Europe and Eastern Europe. What it I found interesting was while I lived in South America (I love South America, all of it) many people considered themselves, after their nationality, Chilean for example (and none of this "I'm German-Chilean" crap), they liked to say they were Americans because they live in the America's. You see they laugh because they say the United States of America doesn't have a name, it is a geographical reference. What they mean is Mexico (note to Mexico, you are not loved in South America, sorry) is The United States of Mexico, Brazil is The United States of Brazil, you get the picture. Great folks in Latin America, wonderful place to visit. I like them so much I don't even cap on Venezuala even though their leader is a bit paranoid, wonderful people.
